Had one of those RARE REALLY GREAT GIGS last night!!!

Man we had some fun. Played at a small, really cool bar in Bridgeport, TX called Red's. Friday night was pretty cool, but Sat. night we had the honor of having a steel player named Dick Woods sit in with us all night. Don't know if some of the DFW Texas guys on here know him, but he plays with the band West of Nowhere who are starting to get some airplay here in the Metroplex.

Anyway, this guy is phenominal on steel guitar. Absolutely the smoothest player I've ever heard, and I've had the good luck of playing with some pretty dang good pickers. We've played with him once before and he sounded great, but last night was just awesome.

We do mostly covers, couple of originals. My favorite that we do is "Please Please Baby" by Dwight Yoakum, mostly because I get to cut loose on that one and it gets the crowd going. Now I thought I could play that one pretty well, but I had never heard a really cookin' steeler play that one before, well, I was just dumbstruck. Almost forgot to start singing the last chorus of the song.

Sorry this is so long, but if you ever get a chance to see this guy play, don't miss it, cause he can really make that steel sing. Also, isn't it amazing how much better you tend to play when you have someone playing with you that is a high caliber player!!!

I couldn't agree more with this comment. I can't put my finger on why this should be. I suppose you have to raise your game, so to speak, to avoid being shown up! Something strange does seem to happen - I guess you just feed off of each other in some strange way....

Where the heck is Bridgeport?

As for playing with a better caliber player...I shanghaied Jim Stringer for an upcoming gig, so I better be on top of it...either that or just hand all the lead work over to him!

Hey RC I thought you had dropped off the radar or something. Well you should know, cuz the last time you played with us, I brought my A+ game and still felt like I was a "little leaguer" up there with Mark McGuire!!!

Folks, if you ever get a chance to see Ronnie Crecelius play, jump on it cuz' you won't find any finer Tele Pickin' around!!!

Monkey, Bridgeport is a little fart of a town about 45 minutes north-west of Ft. Worth.
