Equipment Joke -Topload & Solid State

Well, the tone may not be in my fingers.... but, it's apparently not in any of my equipment either!
The other day I was listening to some recordings of a garage band I've been in for several years. We played a private party gig, semi-outdoors, for several years running. I recorded the band using the same recorder. We played throught the same PA. But in the course of several years, I rotated a couple different guitars and amps through the gig. This particular year I was listenting to, my guitar playing seemed to sound as good or better
-"tone"-wise- as anything I have ever recorded by us.
I was using my oldest (early 90's?) MIM tele... the kind with the hated and reviled six little offset pot metal saddles on the toploader bridge plate - thru an old ('70's?) Solid State amp- a Peavey Special 130.
Since then, I've bought at least half a dozen tube amps, and 3 more Teles... swapped pickups and esquired one..... and thought I'd dealt a lot better performance "tone" ......... but...... perhaps not!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA - another joke on me!

(Why does "food for thought" always taste so bad?!!)

Not a whiff of cork in the wind!
-And I forgot to mention, that old MIM was strung up with 9s... !
If there was ANY "tone" for miles, maybe some of it DID come from my fingers!
(And/or that old Special 130, which is actually a pretty nice amp....)

I think you said it right there.

An OLD speaker ( and your fingers ) can have tons of tone.
