It's either Andy or Gear-Man-Dude all the way.

Hadn't seen him before - have to respect someone who will play the Crowes in a demo, though!

I like Andy...no show, no attitude, no white curly cord, just good information.

Too bad there aren't any demo dudettes. I'd much rather watch a pair of beautiful, soft, titillating...female guitar hands...than some goofy dude.

This is my favorite gear review off all time! Pay close attention at around 3:43.

my favorite gear demo guy is......ME. He's not on Youtube, or selling pedals for store. He always plays my kind of music, looking for my kind of tones, and uses my kind of gear. And I always agree with his opinions. I trust him. But he is pretty ugly and I'm not impressed with his playing.

Andy is good, but it's not very revealing. He won't clue you in on a pedal's shortcomings. He'll play stuff that sounds great with any particular pedal - most every pedal is capable of being useful in the right context right? Andy has pedals to sell, so take it for what it is, an advertisement. I wonder how many pedals Andy has demo'd (to great results) and didn't really like at all in person? I'll bet there are plenty :) I'm not ripping on Andy. I think he's an outstanding player and great in front of the camera. A natural. Too good infact, as I just cant divorce myself from knowing he's TRYING to sell me the pedal. He's not really my buddy, conveying his honest opinion.

What I like about Gearmandude (I fast forward the coily cable and SG love) is his raw demo form. If the pedal has bad sounds in it, you'll hear it. He's not on a quest to sell you anything (well, I do believe he owns a store, right?) but his reviews are......shall we say, I've heard a lot of stuff on them that sounded like crap. Not because of the recording audio necessarily or his playing, but the noisy raspy reality of many a pedal that is not glossed over (or eq'd and compressed in post production for the best end result possible).

Burgerman is great. Quality vids, quality audio, THOROUGH demonstration and fantastic playing. Nothing to sell. He does lay it on thick when he really likes a pedal, but at least it's true honesty on his behave.

I also like Just Nick - he's fun, funny, thorough...very useful vids.

I like Phil X but cannot afford any of those guitars.

Do Greg Koch and the Wildwood demos count? Can't afford those either.

This is the closest I could think of, Rebecca Dirks with Premier Guitar. She does most of their "Rig Rundowns"

Andy Pro Guitar shop (all around)

Brett and Sadie for pedals

Both are straight to the point and don't waste my time trying to be "the guy"

And +1 for Just Nick. I only heard of him a couple weeks ago, and I've only watched 2-3 of his reviews, but I really like his explanations and his balance of talking and playing. You gotta watch the one where he reviews 4 Earthquaker Devices Fuzzboxes--and turns them ALL on at once at the end.

Forward to 10:00 if you only want the mayhem.
