I can see your point, but I disagree. Someone with a new account at 'LoveMySubaru.com' whose first post is, "how many people here think Subaru quality has gone downhill lately?" is not a goober--they're generally someone trying to get people riled up, and they're usually successful.

Okay, I'll agree with your hypothetical example from another forum, but that's not what I'm talking about, so I'm not sure if you do see my point. I'm not saying trolls don't exist. I'm saying guys who stubbornly refuse to agree with me are not necessarily trolls. I'm not calling you a troll, for example.

Ah! Okay, I see what you're saying.

(I'm not a troll... just 'thick' LOL!)

We agree

This is a TROLL! (Trolls are Norwegian, as averyone should know!)

But seriously, I sort of agree with Colo.

A few times I've suspected a "newbie" to be a troll, but I have always given them the benefit of the doubt. Even though I have asked them, I've never accused someone of being one AFAIK.

Somebody ask me if I was a troll on another forum. I asked him if he was an a-hole and got banned for ten days!

The quality of trolling on this forum has not impressed me much these days. I remember the old days when troll threads were really great.

So, say a troll stuck around long enough to get his post count up...

Would he become an Ogre, along with his Dr. Of Teleocity status?

Lions and Tigers and Bears Oh My!!!!!

Trolls and Flamers and Lurkers Oh My!!!!

Once had a friend remind me that Ad Hominem Attacks are the last refuse of a lost argument.

Most Troll's and their ilk Ogre, and the like usually use this method to win an augment. I find that most of the time ignoring them it the best course of action.

I have been involved in admin of forums, etc. in the software field and let me tell you this Tolling, etc. is tame compared to some of the programmers I have had the pleasure of personally calling to try to understand their position and mitigate damage to the company for no reason other than, well you get it.

Oh, nothing in this thread, or on this forum even at its worst, compares to the trolling I see daily on other forums I haunt.
