MY personal theory, though, is that Keef actually died about 30 years ago...except nobody told him. i can just picture some reporter breaking it to him one of these days, and then Keith disintegrates into a puff of dust and blows away in the wind.

The Stones don't look 'anorexic' in those pictures to me... they look about the right weight for their frame/height in my opinion. Keef's and Ronnie's legs look pretty skinny, but maybe that's how their built, I dunno.

You need to be skinny and wiry to pull off the rock look.

There is something that just doesnt work with the look of a well built person in a rock band. It probably has something to do with skinny being associated with youth, which is ironic because some of the most iconic skinny rockers are extremely old. But at the same time they do exhibit the energy of youth, which is important for the music.

I am a fairly young, twenty something. People my age are in uber trendy indie bands where style/image is very much above the music. Screaming girls will fall at the feet (or twitter pages) of these skinny hipsters. It just wouldnt work if they were either fat or heavily muscular. Muscly look can work for metal as its more aimed at boys, but anything aimed at girls (the main market!) is skinny guys, often pretty boys with fancy haircuts these days.

Its the look that the majority of 'hip' teenage girls are into, because all the cool guys who are artists/musicians/creatives etc in the city (Shoreditch or Williamsburg) look like. Manoerixics who live off cocaine, beer & cigarettes. Oh and, mummy's trust fund usually too.
