Walked out of a movie tonight.

So for the first time for like over a year the wife and I got the chance to go out for dinner and a movie. We had a really nice dinner at a new Spanish restaurant. Nice place. But then we went to the see "The Woman in Black". We should have known we were in trouble when teenagers were coming in by the dozen. The place was alive with chatter. We figured it was just because the movie s...tarted. But when the movie began it continued. Talking, giggling, cell phones ringing, running back and forth...one girl was even doing cartwheels in the aisle. One other older couple tried to get them to hush to which one of these nasty brats called out in a snotty tone "the movie hasn't started yet!" ....when in fact it had. After 20 about minutes, we'd had enough. We went outside to complain and what do they do? The send 2 teenage boys in to tell 30 teenagers to be quiet. Yeah, thats gonna work.... The guy that seemed to be the asst mgr completely blew us off. My wife got mad and went outside to the car. I demanded to see the manager, and finally some kid who looked about 20 with a dirty shirt comes out and basically says in a really nasty tone..."whaddya want me to do about it? Its a friday night at a horror movie. They got a right to be here." FINALLY, I got my money back, and was told to go to another theatre. Bad bad business. I will NEVER set foot in that theatre again. Rant over. Night Ruined. I'm really ticked off.
We don't usually go to that theatre, but it was on the side of town where the restaurant was. Never again.

Ps....I also found out while as I was there waiting for the Manager, the police had been to the theatre, apparently looking for ushers that were selling drugs to the kids.

Sounds like you need to find a better establishment.

"....They have a right to be here ...."

:ggrrrr:

No. They don't. It's a private establishment. You can throw them out.

It is amazing how bright a iPhone is in the dark. Or 10-15 of them... I have left and asked for my money back and got it because kicking 15 people out when I am already at the door...

I don't bother anymore really... Shame that!

That sucks

Our local theater gives 30 minutes to walk out, cash back.

Ive had to leave because of poor seating one and my kid was not feeling well.
never an issue getting money back.

Wow, nice neighborhood! But, it's just not your neighborhood. And since reaching out and grabbing one thesse punks by the throat and throttling one of them is frowned upon these days? I just quit going to theaters, just like sporting events, some time ago.

Children having children is probably the reason. No respect, manors, or concern.

There is NO respect taught in the home any more. It's SO frustrating. Its hard to enjoy the things we like with kids/jerks spilling drinks, talking on cellphones, etc.

I usually buy a DVD if I want to see the movie. (I have over 500+ and the collection is growing.) I watch the K.C. Squaws (Chiefs) on TV. I try to avoid malls, big restaurants, and crowds. It's just safer for me to stay home! For them & me...

Same thing happened to me a few months ago. If the movie folks don't get a handle on customer behavior, it's going to have a big financial impact as people that come to watch a movie will find something less frustrating to do.

I'm sorry to hear about that. I'm more and more frustrated with going to the movies myself--I'm usually pretty tense from all the distractions. It wrecks the experience for me and for my friends, who know how ticked I am (and of course, the noise and celphone light bugs them too).

I think it's Wednesday matinees or nothing from here.

If you see a movie on a weekend I find it is best to go to the last showing. Most of the younger teens are gone by then and the ones who are there are usually pretty well behaved or sitting in the last row swappin' slober. Never look behind you at these times

I've never been an old or classic movie person but this year we've started going to beautiful theaters that show classic b/w movies and what a treat. The Stanford theater in Palo Alto has an organist who plays before the first movie and between the double feature. $7 movie, $1.50 candy and soda in an amazing theater.

Also we don't go to the mall theater anymore. The downtown theater has a 12 screen multi that is very nice, big screens, and typically relaxed patrons. I pretty much look for downtown theaters now.

Ya know I think we suffered the reverse impact of this. The rude kids are their bread and butter. So we...the respectful customers got dissed and the punks got the respect.

Oh, I'm sure we've all ruined some people's nights being young and obnoxious. That's what kids do. However, it sounds like the management staff really needs to step up their game.

I quit going to theaters because of crap like this...it's ruining society. Unruly, crude, and rude people who want to go out in public and display just what an A** they truly are...they are everywhere....restaurants, movies, stores, doesn't matter ... they are everywhere.

I'd write to the "chain" that owns the theater and tell them of your experience, maybe they'll get a manager in their with a pair? I doubt it, but you never know.

I've had this kind of thing happen and I have no trepidation about firmly saying "Would you kindly shut up. I didn't pay to listen to your nonsense." I'm a big guy and, while I'm a teddy bear, I can come off as pretty intimidating when need be. I don't like taking that approach, but it has been effective for me.

It sounds like our local movie theater. We don't go there anymore.

There is a newer theater in a nearby metro area, that has an more expensive upstairs balcony area with dining, and is adult only. It is really nice and private. It costs more, not all movies are shown there, but it is the only way we will go see movies anymore.

This sort of thing has became the rule rather than the exception here.
I rarely go to the cinema anymore because of things like this.
Some people are so self centered that they are completely oblivious to the folk they are pissing off.
