Anyone else ever notice this

Your setting around jamming after band practice you hit and intro or a lead lick for a song and sombody in the band says "Man thats a great song can you do it, how does it go?" And at first you think oh sure, I've played that a thousand times, but then you realise that you don't even know the first word of the first verse to the song in question. Why? Because while you have played the song many times and you now the tune, the intro and the lead solo; you never learnd the lyrics. This annoys the heck out of me when I do it. You would think as much as I listened to the song to figure out the guitar parts I would have at least picked up the first verse and chours. Now that I have started singing for my band I have had to re-learn all the songs that I "thought" I knew. Do you guys run into this or am I just losing it??

Oh yeah, all the time.

It's not as bad as what happened to me the other day..."How does the intro to Folsom Prison go???"

I just go to cowpie.com, get the lyrics and drill on em. Or make someone else sing the darn thing.

Or just make up your own lyrics that have the same rhythm and rhyme scheme.

For some reason, drunk people don't seem to notice.
