If Goodfellas didn't exist, then Casino would be an outstanding movie.

however, Goodfellas is MUCH superior. Concur that Casino is not different enough in mob subject matter to distinguish itself...not that there aren't strong performances and memorable scenes!

i remember a one-word movie review of Casino, it said... "Ca-seen-it!", referring to its similarity to Goodfellas with Pesci & DeNiro.

What I really like about DeNiro's performances in these mob movies, is that he never plays the obvious Italian role. In Goodfellas he was the Irishman, Jimmy Conway and in Casino he was the Jewish Ace Rothstein.

i still watch Casino, but for me, no question I prefer Goodfellas.

And i also like how Scorsese fits his real mother into cameos in his movies.
She's in both mob movies.

Goodfellas. I liked Casino, especially early on, but I didn't like it as much later in the film when it was set in the 1980's. Both the music and the fashions sucked in the 80's.

I seem to remember Casino and Goodfellas going on a bit too long, but more so with Casino.

Goodfellas is much more watchable IMO.

Casino has great scenes and acting, but Sharon Stone's character is really annoying on repeated viewings.

I used to say Good Fellas. Now, I've seen Casino a few times and I'm tempted to say that I like it better from front to back. I think the story is slightly more compelling than Good Fellas.

I never played a "Goodfellows" so I can't really comment. However, my Epi Casino is one of my favorites. P-90s RULE !!!!

Scorsese has an amazing catalogue of films, imo. Goodfellas is my favourite, but Raging Bull, The King of Comedy, Taxi Driver, Mean Streets, The Colour of Money, and of his more recent ones I really like The Departed. I also really liked an oddball one that I haven't seen for many years: After Hours. I should look that one up again too.

I'm not a big fan of either movie -- way too much over the top drama.

If you like the organized crime genre and can handle subtitles, I highly recommend two recent foreign films. Both are shot more cinema verite style.

Just watched Casino in its entirety for the first time recently. I don't think it matches up with Goodfellas.
I agree about the title of Goodfellas. If it couldn't have been Wiseguys, how about "Friends of Ours" although I'm sure the suits at the studios would have objected.

One cannot copyright a title. There could conceivably be an entanglement problem with trademarks. If one tried to use Mickey Mouse or Star Wars, that entanglement would likely manifest itself.

Consider the number of recent movies with the title "Push." the one with Chaz Parlimentari was written by an attorney I know in Atlanta. Another one has Dakota Fanning in it, whom is from the Atlanta area. There are multiple books titled push.

There is a very large number of songs titled Stand By Me.

The real question is did Deniro play a different character in Casino and Goodfellas?

Nah, it was because of the tv show. I remember reading an article about it and thinking are people are really going to confuse the 2?

What are you a mook? (just kidding) I just like it. I like the actors, the location the dialog, and the music. Also love the directing and the time period. 20 dollars? Let's go to the movies!

Just a few nights ago I re-watched A Bronx Tale for the first time in many years. It's very "Goodfellas Lite", but a good (not great) movie that's worth seeing.

After The Godfather I & II and Goodfellas, my next favorite mobster movie has to be Donnie Brasco. Love it!

After Goodfellas and the Godfather, my next favorite mob movie is the Untouchables.

Mean Streets is great because 3 powerful talents exploded onto the scene at the same time.

And a Bronx Tale is good. DeNiro directed it, for goodness sake!

A lot of people love the money. It's highly regarded. For some reason, it didn't engage me.

Gotta go with Goodfellas, it's a classic.

Goodfellas is a top favorite in so many ways. Casino doesn't even rate - not on any level. Sorry.

Goodfellas starts out great, but its too long and by the end it's unravelled. Casino is good except for Sharon Stone, who I just cannot stand.

Hmmm. I thought Casino would rate better than it has. Personally I like the premise better and think its more entertaining.
