Las Vegas Guitar shops?

I coulda swore I posted this yesterday - but I can't find it, so I must have not hit the "submit" key.

Anyway, a buddy and I are flying from Minneapolis to Las Vegas for the Jimmy Buffett concert at the MGM (I'm a long-time Parrothead). I'll have some time Friday, Saturday, and maybe Sunday to hit a couple guitar stores, but I'm not sure where to go. I've heard of Cowtown Guitars and Ed Roman Guitars, but that's all. Any suggestions where to go to look at some nice Teles and other guitars? I'll be staying at Treasure Island.

Fins to the left! Thanks!

Dean

Cowtown Guitars

http://www.cowtownguitars.com/index.php The owners' name is Mark...nice guy....said he used to tour with Bob Seeger and The Silver Bullet Band. Has cool, must have T-shirts and largest vintage/used selection in Lost Vegas. Also Ed Roman Guitars...never made it there..check out his web site. You will be very entertained!

And then I read your post completely....

Cowtown was cool

Checked them out when I played there. Ed Roman's is (IMHO) great for entertainment value, especially if you like over-the-top, super inlaid, pointy headstock hot rod machined guitars. I think they had maybe one Tele-style in stock, but like the rest of Vegas, it's overkill for the sake of overkill. There was another cool store out in Hendersonville, but I can't remember the name. Check the yellow pages when ya get there.

That's AJ'S Music in Henderson, at 2764 N. Green Valley Parkway.

Dean, I don't have any gigs this weekend so if you want to email me I'll give you my phone #. Maybe I'll even come to town and drive you around to a few shops.

Yep, that's the one!

Thanks, Cowboytwang.

They had some great used gear and the staff was friendly. Check them out if you can.

Darn toot'n!

This must be a fluke...sitting here in my Ed Roman Las Vegas t-shirt (no kidding ). I find it matches really good with my Silver Sparkle Tele (no kidding either!).

I agree with Twangmeister on the entertainment value of Ed Roman's place.
Ed does have a really nice collection of Hamer guitars (a soft spot for me). Not my kind of music shop though.

Happy hunting!
Erik

Yo, TwinReverb!

Is that one of the team-built, Custom Shop silver sparkles? If so, let me know when you're ready to sell it. I'm DYING for one of those suckers! Heck, I'll even throw in the other Ed Roman T-shirts and a keychain from the Elvis mueum! ;-)

Yo Twangmeister!

LOL
Nope, it isn't a Fender CS. It is Masterbuilt, but by Bill Crook of Crook Custom guitars ;-) It has an alder silver sparkle body, boatneck, silver sparkle headstock, Callaham hardware, rosewood fretboard, transparent pickguard and Hamel pups...I think I have lost the need for a CS version. I am one lucky sob.
I think Bill has a pic of similar one on his new website.

cheers
Erik

PS one Ed Roman t-shirt is all the tongue in cheek I need

Good luck with your search....but try a Crook and you won't be disappointed.
