Re: Steelers @ Patriots will face off in 1st game of season

Both teams have lost key players and are in rejiggering mode. Their opponents will be out for revenge. Call me a traitor, but I don't see either team going all the way this year, although I would bet that the Patriots are likely to take it again two years from now, since Belichek has a genius for assembling Swiss-Army teams that can do just about anything for less money... Steelers didn't lose any "key" players. Who? Plexico? He dropped the ball too often. I'd be worrying about his replacement at 4.3-4.4 speed. The Steelers like the Patriots have DEPTH...you lose a few players and the replacements WILL play as good if not BETTER!
Ya, ShakeDancer, I'm already lookin' forward to Football season! We had a good time last year! |

Last night they said the Pats would open against Pittsburgh, now they are saying the Pats are opening against Oakland. I don't know what's going on. Anyone know? Jeff I agree with you on the Pats. I think they are doing a little rebuilding and I think they are poising themselves for the future. This could be Pittsburgh's year. Yes Sarge we had fun. The way time goes August will be here before you know it.

Remember the Pats let Law go, they don't need him. They won a superbowl without him. The Pats draft well and plug the holes. They might not win the superbowl this year but they are still one of the top 3 teams in football. That alone gives them a shot.

As long as Belichek is running the show I would NEVER count the Patriots out. Now Cowher on the other hand needs to move on. Seriously, how many times you gotta choke before getting some new blood in there?

I heard Oakland?
Not Pittsburgh v New England.
If it's Pitt, they (Steelers) will win this game, but of course the Pats will win the SB. By the way, re: Cower... who you gonna get that's any better? He's a solid coach, for whatever reason hasn't been able to figure out the title game/SB, but he's done an overall great job. He still may win one yet. All it takes is one! -Eric

Sarge
I think Eric is probably right about Cowher. I don't know who is available that is better. I believe this, the Steelers had the team to go all the way but the inexperience of Ben killed them. Now with a year under his belt he may be more poised and more mature to lead them all the way. We'll see. I believe if Tom Brady had been Pittsburgh's QB last year they would have won the Bowl. Hey Sarge, be careful on that bike if you get one, I want you around for football season.

Sarge, it's just frustration - imagine how The Lakers and
76ers felt all those years Boston was THE dominant force in Basketball - Cowher leaving Pittsburgh - I can't see it, he's one of THE ELITE coaches in The Game. If he does leave and for Your sake I hope he stays - look for an all-out bidding war for his services. Hey, he wasted The Patriots on Halloween Sarge - that was no fluke - for a lot of coaches THAT would be a crowning achievement... There's NO DOUBT WHATSOEVER here in New England that the Patriots - Steelers Rivalry is quickly becoming one of THE BEST in Sports and THE BEST RIVALRY in The NFL. I'd hate to see that end - I'd never want The Yankees to be anything but a great Organization because of The Red Sox - Yankee Rivalry.... The Patriots - Steelers BUZZ around here in UNREAL the week before the game is even played. They are the TWO BEST TEAMS far and away. It's these kind of rivalrys that make Sports great. I'm already conjuring a 40+ inch wide screen by Columbus Day - it'll be tough but Hey - Life is so short Ya gotta go for it.
