American Movie: The Making of Northwestern

Has anyone else seen this documentary? It's been running on the IFC lately; totally entertaining documentary about a young film maker trying to make a film he "wrote" (sometimes while the camera is running). Somehow charming and disturbing at the same time; if you've seen it
you'll nevert forget it.
Anybody?

I've seen it

Err... I've seen it.

Now I must say that it is completely and utterly mindblowing that this is a true documentary. I still can't really swallow that considering how out-there this is. I mean do people really live like that? There is a website up for the movie; I think its Americanmovie.com, not sure though. They claim it's completely true.

No I'll never forget it. Could I recommend it? Only out of morbid fascination.

I've seen it, a couple of times (I admit it 8) ), defintely interesting and (I thought) really funny, especially the 'stoner' guy... I just assumed it was mainly a 'true documentary', embelished some, but the people are so out there that if it is acting then I would think after that 'performance' you would be seeing alot more of the 'actors' in movies... who knows in 10 years he might be the next George Lynch, then again maybe not.

I've seen it. Sometimes the best humour is when you are watching and saying to yourself "are these guys serious?" I still don't know. Sometimes it looked like an actual documentary. Sometimes it looked like these guys were making a "Spinal Tap"-type movie and taking it up a few notches.

My favourite part was when they were recording the screems of the stoner guy.

"Was that cathartic?"
"Yeah."
"Do you know what cathartic means?"
"No."

Completely captivating. I've always wanted to make a feature film and found myself wondering "Am I like these guys?"

I'm always recommending this to friends only for the "this is twisted" value.

Another one that is just as interesting and just as twisted is "Trekkies", a documentary about Star Trek fans.

That scene killed me. I've heard of "Trekkies" but never seen it, I'll look for that one.
