Really? That kind of sucks. I had used that thread for stuff I could be reading next. Anyhow: Just finishing "The 60 Greatest Conspiracy Threories of All Time". Will begin re-reading this, probably today: ![]() On audio-book in the car, Michener's "Space" just finished and I'm on to Frank Herbert's "Whipping Star".

I find these "what are you reading" threads interesting. Different strokes for different folks, too: I have zero interest in reading any book about WWII or any other war.
I just started reading this. I'm liking it as much as "The English Patient" but it seems more accessible. ![]() LOL: first image search hit:

Just finished "Annals of the Former World", and am following up with "Coming in the Country", McPhee's Alaska book. As for my Short list: McPhee Winchester Conn Igulden Henry Petroski Stephen Jay Gould Plus fiction by Tim Dorsey, Carl Hiaassen, and Janet Evanovich (okay, and Dickens and Twain sorry, but "Space" was not my favorite Michener. Kinda liked both of Michener's Alaska books

"Let's Spill Coffee on the Cat!"
You have to wonder about the people who come up with this stuff.
Anyway, I've requested the book.

alas, anchoret, you are incorrect, it was moved to epic threads as it has become one... so... take a look over there....

then people will say we're blending threads.
plus, almost all the books in this thread are also in the other thread (I know this because I read that thread) so, yes, but it could result in yet another thread about that...

How to Lie with Maps by Mark Monmonier.
I'm currently running through a GIS course, so my readings have been decidedly academic of late. Once I've finished the course, I'll be back enjoying the very well respected classical literary genre of Zombie fiction. In fact I've been brewing up my own zombie apocalypse tail in my head for the last year or so. Perhaps I'll put pen to paper... |

If this is like every other forum I use, threads that reach a certain length, usually approaching 999 posts, are retired because they cause some sort of slowdown with the system.
I assumed this was why the previous thread got pulled. This is at least the second time this thread has been restarted because previous ones were too long and were removed.

No one ever looks over there compared to here. I assumed it was retired because indexing it was becoming a resource hog, like they do on TalkBass and everywhere else. It's an ephemeral thread anyway, like the "what are you listening to ?" kind of stuff. If this thread is a hassle delete it. [shrug]

I did not move the original thread, wrong again assumptions about what this forum does based on talkbass is specious. it is neither a hassle nor not a hassle.. just kind of spinoff threads... no real need to join them or delete anything... generally, unless a thread is contentious to the point of breaking rules, we don't pull them, ever. We close zombie threads out of respect and continuity, but we don't pull threads for being 'resource hogs'.... So, pick which one you want to add to and have at it!
