I know that you said you prefer Florida. But just this past week, someone was telling me about a lady who made his & hers matching boots, jackets and a purse out of ostrich skin. The jackets just had the sholder highlights - not the whole thing. She said it was $800 for everything. If you want, I will contact this person and see if I can get a name and phone number. The leather tailor is located in Fort Worth, TX. Tandy Leathers was based there, and there are a lot of leather crafters there. |

Guys and Reverbb (that must be the mother of all amps!), thanks so much for the information. Now I have enough to present my case to the wife that I do have "dress boots" and therefore I can wear them to "social events"… Wish me luck….
BTW, the temperature went up to 60+ yesterday so I could wear my boots again! It's funny, but I've always associated boots with hot and humid weather like Venezuela… or Texas. When I think about it, it makes no sense because boots are really warm! Somehow, it works though… On the other hand, I find that my boots are useless when the temperature drops below 40 F. Well, these are Venezuelan boots after all so they aren't for cold weather. What kind of cowboy boots do you guys wear during the winter and in the snow? I'm sure that folks from Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, etc. can help me there. Cheers!

life w/out cowboy boot?!?!
have a pair of lizard skin thrift shop tony lamas. like butter!!!
mostly wear 'em for gigs and dress - want 'em to last forever. plus, they're not warm, low, wide, loose, or grippy, so they're bad for ice and snow. and too hot for summer. and not good for long walks. but i do play better when i wear 'em - even if i do sorta stagger around the stage. (maybe that's why neal young does it, too...) otherwise - a loafers/oxfords/chukkas/clogs/gummy-boots/ waffle-stompers/sandals/skateboard-sneakers/barefoot kinda guy. cb ps - what about beatle boots? |

These days cowboy boots are about all I wear. I've worn them off and on as far back as high school, but for the past almost 2 years it's been boots 98% of the time.
I really love Schepler's $98.00 Steel Toe special. Great boots! |

Well, alright...bought a pair of work Justins today, the kind with the crepe wedge sole.
13D's. My wife hates em. Right now my feet hate em too, but they'll be good once they're broken in.

If you have not worn boots before or for a while, your feet will definately hate them at first. Also, the top of the boot will chalf your calf. It can be torture at first. But eventually, the boots wiil become so comfortable and for right up to your feet.
The alternative is to buy custom fitted boots for 3 or 4 times the price. Then there is far less break in and fit period. BTW, I know what work boots look like. It is easy to see why the wife does not like them. She probably envisioned the 'dress boot' look. But for me, the work boot is the way to go. They are designed to get roughed up and it is OK, because there is no exotic skin to damage. I used to torture my poor boots when I kept horses and sheep in my back yard. When it was muddy, there was no other foot wear that I wanted to wear. Then, I would wash them off with a water hose and go to my desk job. I am one of those who are not into fancy footwear for a fashion statement. I leave that job up to my hats |

Damn, I could've taken pics of my Python boots at lunchtime but I didn't think of it!
They're real hard to put on and a little easier to take off but they fit my feet real nice. |
