If you have BIG feet...........

I'm a 15 or 16 and all I wear is boots unless have shorts on. My boots come from http://www.olatheboots.com/

They have been in business for 125+ years and they still make first rate boots with no corners cut. Sometimes you have to wait a month or so, but I have boots that they made for me that still look outstanding after 25 years. They are also wonderful people to deal with.

I got two pair of Ariat boots at a sale a while back - a dress black pair with a soft point, and some brown beater ropers. I often wear them to work, around town, etc. No-one really looks twice. Then again, this is horse country.

Are there other shoes besides cowboy boots, engineer/motorcycle boots, and All Stars? :D

My girl friends always wear the cutest heels but for me, even with a dress, I can't go without my vintage 1940's Acme's - I'd dress like Dale Evans every day of my life if I could! :^)

I have tried wearing western style boots since moving to the USA but I am having a hard time getting comfortable in them. Normally I wear veldtschoens from the Couteney Boot Company that I brought here with me. A soft impala hide boot.....can't beat em'.

I have a pair that I've had forever but they don't fit too well anymore. I need to get a pair made to fit my feet. I'd wear them all the time if I did. Or at least on stage and special occasions.

I do, but I think you could say they're part of the uniform:
http://www.bryankimsey.com/ranch/dec_jessie1.JPG

I have, let's see....2 pair of Durango work boots, a pair of Double H lace-up ropers, a pair of brown Tony Lamas that's sort of a "go to town" boot, and a pair of black TL's that are for church.

I wear them

But only for dress events and gigs. Wear western shirts for gigs and dress events too.

Won't, however, do the hat thing. Did it as a kit but not interested in that, now.

For the hard to fit, there's the Alberta Boot Company, in Canada. You get your foot traced and measured, and they build the boots to your feet.

I have Dan Posts (had to special order them) but eventually I'll get some from Alberta.

Well you'd be surprised but during the late 70's and all through the 80's cowboy buts were THE shoe for the "rebelius" young people in Greece. So much that most policemen drug you to the nearest station when they saw you wearing them.
They are totally the fashion boot for models & female bouzouki singers these days too (even though they way they wear them is an insult to this century old tradition )

Can't find any good one here...

... I'll be in New York later in February, can someone point me to a good place where I can find some Santa Fe boots (half high, Mexican heels, chisel toes)? I need them in glossy black, no fancy stitchings, because I often need to wear them with a suit.

Thank in advance for any good tips!

One thing I've found to be true about cowboy boots:

It's a lot easier to ride horses with them on as opposed to running shoes etc. Cowboy boots fit right in those stirrups.
Yee haw!

Uh-oh. Do we have to say if we own a horse or not? I hope boots and a guitar is sufficiently complimentary!

I've had good luck w/ www.caboots.com

Once you find a style, you can specify colors, toes, heels, tops, etc.

Good Luck

Justins... from more'n 20 years ago...

Wore 'em a lot when I lived in Sacramento. Haven't worn 'em often since moving back to LA in '82, but often enough that I'm glad I didn't give 'em away. They still look and feel good.

I always had trouble getting my feet into stirrups with running shoes. I'd hate to think what would happen if I got thrown off with them on.

I do have a pair of engineer boots that I've had forever. Even they start killin' my feet after awhile, though.

Gotta be comfortable...4 hours on your feet for a gig, with 1 foot riding a volume pedal all night, it can get to ya.

Repair question

Guys, one question about repairing boots. I've had the same 4 pair of boots since the 90s. I've resoled them a few times and in Venezuela that's very cheap. Now, the sole of two of my favorite pair needs replacement again so I went to one of these shoe repair shops and the estimate is like 80 bucks per pair! Does that sound right to you? I could get new boots in Venezuela for that money!!!! Any other suggestions?…
