Snow, snow and more snow

greetings from Lake Tahoe, the bad news is that we have had about 2 feet of snow today, along with 4 feet of snow from last week. Did not even go outside today, the good news is that I did not go out side today and had lots of time just to sit and play my tele.

Life is good

Bob P.

By now we usually have a couple of three feet of snow on the ground, but we didn't get our first snow until Wednesday. Kinda strange. We're probably going to get what's left of your storm the middle of this week.

Enjoy your couple of yards!

Bob, did you stay in the house just because you had a tele to play, or because the snow outside is piled up higher than your front door? ;)

Here too. We've had 5 feet since Christmas and 2 feet in the last 24 hours.

But in Jackson Hole, Wyoming we're snow lovers and nothing closes and we just go about as usual. It's still snowing too.

Paul, do you have an extra exit door on the second floor for when the snow gets this high?

I think we've had about a foot since Christmas here in Albany. I used to like the snow a lot more before I was a landlord and *had* to shovel it all. I have a feeling that I'll like snow a lot more again after I break down and buy a snowblower.

Same snow totals in Reno

Hey Bob, We've got nearly the same snow totals here on the eastern slope of the Sierra in Reno. I've been doing nothing but shoveling my (uphill) driveway over and over and chauffering my wife and kids around. I've got the only 4 wheel drive in the family plus my wife won't allow the kids to drive in this mess. After this mornings shoveling I drove my son to his job at the guitar store this morning only to find a sign on the door saying, "Closed due to weather conditions..." Thanks for calling, guys! I'd love to have gotten up on the ski hill to sample all that powder, but other than the above mentioned activities I'm spending my time applying the heating pad to the low back (that is when the power isn't out.) At least I can have my guitar in my hands while doing that.

Funny...

My kids are upset because we haven't gotten any snow this year. They have their sleds in their room and every morning they check out the yard from their window. My oldest son knows how the check the weather on the internet and I hear when he tells his brother “no snow, man…”

I hate shoveling and that kind of stuff, but I must confess that I miss it.

Nah, the snow blower is my life blood right now. On my back deck, the snow is now 18 higher than the deck. I get the blower back there for these big storms and it cuts a big line where the edge of the deck is.

thats what I have been told, my wife talked to a friend who lives at Arrow creek in Reno and they just got slamed, still trying to dig out from last weeks storm. Its really not bad here on the south shore of the Lake, we have lots of snow plows and I live in a Condo so I don't have to move any snow.

down the hill in the Valley, all we have is RAIN

It be getting close to yachting in the back yard here in Cali, people--almost time to start pairing up animals. I'm draining water out of the pool every other day, and it'd be nice to see dry streets. Thinking of running up the hill to see the white stuff next week with the kids. Dogg

It's been snowing and raining off and on all year (7 out of 10 days) at my place. We have had over 2 inches of rain since Christmas, and our annual rainfall where I live is just over 3 inches a year. I don't think it's a good thing to get over half your annual rainfall in two or three weeks.
My horses are standing in about a foot of water.

Up on the Mountain outside of Vegas they had an Avalanche yesterday(Sunday), it swept some folks off the ski lift and killed a 13 year old boy that was snowboarding. I think they said they had 38 inches of snow in a 24 hour period over the weekend.

Up here in Jersey there hasn't been any snow. I've been outside all day. It's about 50 degrees out right now

Huh?

Do you know what's going on in California? Southern California has had four weeks of record rainfall and snowfall in an incessant parade of winter storms, and our topography is extreme. Unfortunately it's a national news story this evening (La Conchita landslide). I've had over 8 inches right here in the last 48 hours. Our place took a direct lightning strike Fri morning, which was when this latest series of storms began and it hasn't stopped raining since but for a few minutes here and there. The last time I saw any blue in the sky was the morning of the Rose Parade, Jan 1.

Up here in the North (600 miles to the polar circle), we've had September/October weather for a while now. No snow's about all melted out.

yea, right ...
But here a bit up norther (some 300 miles to the Polar circle), I have been pushing some snow (I mean no drug slang ) off my yard like no tomorrow within a week. Though it has not been very cold here yet, which is a bit abnormal. But I can live without that :)
