Bday/Christmas present: cool cheap acoustic!
Normally, I don't like using "cheap" and "acoustic" when trying to describe a good dreadnought. But my wife pitched in the bulk of money to get me a brand new--but with some shop wear--Art & Lutherie solid cedar top acoustic guitar. I'm stoked! It sounds quite good, and the playability is excellent. It really is "boomy," I've never seen a lower-end acoustic with this much toneful volume. It's a very "plain" guitar with no fancy inlays, single binding around only the top, and a cheap stenciled rosette around the soundhole, and no-gloss finish (which I actually like). But the tone? It's there.
Because of the shop wear (a few minor dings in the soft cedar top), the price was reduced significantly. I've been wanting a decent acoustic--but not so nice that I'd be afraid to take it out and play it--for a while. This thing sounds better than a couple of all-solid-woods I compared it against, and it actually sounded better than the Seagulls I was comparing it too (A&L, Seagull, and Simon & Patrick are all made by Lasido in Canada). Woo-hoo! -E

Congrats
Nothing like a new guitar, cheap or expensive, it's still new and exciting. I'm waiting on a G & L asat classic I bought on ebay a couple of days ago, so I know the feeling. Enjoy it!!!
