Where to go for web hosting?
Hello everyone!
I am in charge of creating the band website and could use a little help. I have about $30 a month to spend on hosting and I hope that will buy enough space for music, pics, and video. Any suggestions on where to begin? I was thinking of buying Frontpage or something to design the site with. Also, where do you register the domain name? thanks in advance. brian

Go Daddy

One stop shop. I use Go Live for designing/maintaining my site. It's overkill for a simple site, but it came with a software bundle so why not? |

Domain Name & Site
Try the Yahoo home page in the small business block. This will provide you with a vehicle with which to publish a web site and also establish a domain name. I think we (Boston Rockabilly . . .originally (Boston Rockabilly Music Conspiracy) are paying $19.95 a month for the site and securing the name was $9.95. We are in the initial stages of creating ours.
Rather Ironic . . Ref a couple of subjects above . . Chuck Berry has in the past personally requested our keyboard player Vic Layne for his New England concerts because of his ability to get the Jonnie Johnson sound. Quite a complement from one of the icons of rock. Also, how about "Botherations" and "Coolarator" Happy Holidays to all!

Do you already know how to make sites?
I make webpages and I find frontpage to sometimes be more frustrating then helpful. It likes to do things I dont want it to and I end up in notepad!

here's one
my cousin runs this site and you don't pay a dime, it's kinda like garageband but you don't have to listen to songs to upload all you have to do is join, it has pix, mp3s,bio page, a mailing list, all kinda stats and ranking of your song in your genre, you can also have your own message board...if you want to have them host your website they will for like 6.95$s a month..but with all they offer on the free side you don't really need to have a full blown site ...why is it free you ask, well he came to our shows and got all excited and his boss was in a band so they cooked it up to have a free web prescence for all unsigned bands...they also have dedicated servers (whatever that means...lol) anyhoo thats my 2 cents

I'm pretty happy with these folks
http://myhosting.com/
They've been hosting my site, my wifes site, my brother's site, my church's site.... as you can tell from the repeat business, we're pretty happy with it. I've used them for over 5 years. Anything from plain old hosting for $10/month on up to whatever you need. |
