As a life-long Yankee fan this is KILLING me, but I'll give it to the stinkin' Red Sox they got it done and NY didn't.
NY didn't even show up! How can you not show up for game 7? Come on?! 3 runs? You've GOT to do better than that. This is getting away from me. Go Houston/St. Louis!!! |

The stantheman Theory....
way...."way back when in 1919" The Red Sox had an owner who happened to be....A Broadway Producer. This
individual had only a passing interest in "The Game" and needed financing to put on a spectacle that still is performed occasionally...."No No Nanette". This naive Broadway Pinnochio sold the greatest player to ever lace 'em up to garner a "Broadway Smash" and in doing so created "the first crack in The Dam of what should have been the true greatest dynasty in the history of Sport.....instead that honor went to a city initially more known for theatrical productions that Baseball Dynasties....... last Winter George Steinbrenner drove his mighty billfold like a wedge through The Heart Of The Red Sox who - not being the naive ownership of the past - had found a franchise player that they felt could bring them to "The Promised Land"....it was not to be. In doing this George Steinbrenner dislodged "The Curse" himself...forever by "stealing A.R. in a classic swindle instead of taking the high road that Jacob Rupert had taken 84 years earlier with the naive Broadway Harry Frazee taking away B.R." The Baseball Gods just like The Umpires in Game 6 have taken it upon themselves to forever "right the good ship Red Sox". Hear Me And Mark My Words: The Time Of Three Decades Will Pass Before The Yankees Return To The World Series.

RE:Robert M. may I respectfully suggest...
"...that the yankees DID show up for game 7, but the RED SOX were the better team, Lowe the better pitcher? IMHO the yankees did not lose...the RED SOX won."
Well, the Red Sox were the better team, they were even favored to win this seires. But to be up 3-0 and lose, that is losing(choaking). The Yankees LOST this series, but oh well. The curse is not over yet! |

I've seen classic choking in sports; in my honest opinion, the Yankees didn't. It just didn't feel like a Yankees choke as much as it felt like the Sox fighting to redeem themselves for the sins of decades past. (Sorry; I didn't mean to get all Grantland Rice about it. :P ) Go all the way and bring that long-awaited world championship home to Boston and the rest of New England, Red Sox! Joel |

I've been over at the YES Network forum(big time
Yankee fan hangout) and they are reeling.Absolutely shocked & disgusted with their own team. While I agree it wasn't so much the Yanks choked(that would take away from the Sox extraordinary effort),I would say it was a catastrophic meltdown. And I'm still nursing this beautiful hangover. http://boards.yesnetwork.com/forums/...php?act=SF&f=2 |

I've never been a sports fan of any kind but I found myself watching the Red Sox the past few nights...
... and all through it all, I still knew they could easily screw it all up. How does it go? Red Sox fans are so used to disappointment that they're disappointed when they don't get disappointed. or something like that... Just beating the Yankees is good enough for me... and I'm a former New Yawker and used to be a huge Yankees fan. Billy

I don't think I've EVER heard of a person being a Yankee/Red Sox fan, but is now a fan of the other team. If you are a true Yankee/ Red Sox fan you will never pull for the other team. |

I will agree with Wilkes that Harmony is a nice place. I grew up and lived in Cranston untill I was 18, and have an Aunt and Uncle who live in Smithfield.
Is it cold and snowing yet? The thing I remember the most about winter was the announcement on the radio "Foster/Gloceter NO SCHOOL." They were always the first to get out of school when it snowed. GO CARDINALS!!!! |

I'm envious of your current location. As I get older and the winters seem a little colder I must say I entertain thoughts of AZ. Enjoy the Series!!! Fret
