Saw Mr. Airplane Man last night....
Great band. Had a vague idea of what the music was like but was pleasantly surprised how good they played and how good the songs were. I'm a fan now. If you like garage/blues check these ladies out.
Particularly liked "Jesus on the Mainline" which is an old blues trad. song. Does anyone know of who else has recorded this great tune??? http://www.airplaneman.com/ I think the next stops on the tour are in Cinci and Chicago.

Two versions...an electric one on Paradise & Lunch, and an acoustic version with some great gospel vocals and handclapping on his live album, the name of which I am drawing a blank on. Both are great fun.

Mississippi Fred McDowell
... I recommend 'Live at the Gaslight' from November 1971, one of his last performances and just totally excellent from start to finish. Also there are some really good Arhoolie compilations, including ones that are just his gospel stuff. Get anything. You can't go wrong.
