My only beef with buying music online
I've probably bought a dozen albums from the Apple music store. I like the convenience, the price and so forth.
What I don't like is the lack of any liner notes. I'd think they could easily put the liner notes in PDF format and let you download that, too, or include it with the song files. Online will take off even more when Apple and the labels get that clue. |

good point
i can understand why itunes and such don't give liner notes...i know that reading the cd booklet/album jacket is a lot of fun for me when i listen to music...maybe they could figure out a way for that stuff to pop up on your ipod so you can read the liner notes from the song while your listening to it.

I always associate the album cover and stuff with the songs on it. Especially the colour or overall look of it, just sticks in my mind with the music.
I need the CD!

I'm just now about to embrace the entire mp3 format. I've shunned it for years, because of it's inferior sound quality when compared to CDs. (And yes, I can hear the difference. I've had many people not believe that I can hear a difference, and try to fool me. I can pick out the mp3 every time).
BUT, I'm about to be over it and get an iPod (or similar). A friend of mine got one about 2 months ago, and the sheer convenience of the thing is winning me over. He carries his entire CD collection in his pocket with him everwhere he goes! He's got over 10,000 songs in that thing.

Good Texan, it is possible to make MP3s that are the same quality as CDs, but most people don't so that the files are smaller.
The technology already exists to get you the liner notes and cover art on your screen, I'm not sure why it's not being used. :? |

I have my entire record collection converted to AAC format and my computer is the only "hifi" I use. I have an Alesis RA150 power amp and a set of Alesis Monitor Point Sevens (near-nield monitors) that I use for playback. I suffer friom clutteritis in the worst way. I ripped and gave away any CD that didn't have sentimental value (gift from a friend or the CD that a friend played on). My sister-in-law is on SSI and I gave a lot of them to her. |

On kazaa all audio files in MP3 format are given a quality number, the higher quality MP3s are the same quality (IMO) to cds, though sometimes I find the volumes can vary greatly between the MP3 and the cd, but of course all this is reflected in the file size.
