Who was this Tele player? Chocolate Genius (?) guitarist.

Last year on DirecTv I was watching Trio's "Sessions at West 54th" and the band was "Chocolate Genius" or something like that. Anyway, the guitarist sat on a folding chair with a cream tele and had the most amazing licks and tone I've ever heard come across a TV. I don't mean the vocalist front guy strumming something or another, but the guitarist hiding in the background.

Anyone know who this cat is/was?

Chocolate Genius's guitar player on SAW54th

If I remember right it was Marc Ribot. They've collaborated on other things, too.

Thanks Bernie,

There's a thread about him backing Tom Waits here in the cafe. I've got to check him out. Never heard of the Prosthetic Cubans.

Prosthetic Cubans

The Prosthetic Cubans were on a Sessions at West 54th show. I think Ribot was playing an old jazz box for that one. Keep an eye out for it, it's a pretty good one.
