Red's Night Club in West Edmonton Mall is a pretty exiting, my buddy put the sound system in there and it is probably the largest night club in Canada (two floors with a Cigar bar, restaurant, bowling alley, pool hall & live bands). The mall itself I'm sure you've heard, is quite an attraction. If your looking for Tele's, try Avenue Guitars, Axe Music or Long & McQuede Music which are the best professional music retailers in town. This should keep you busy for awhile!

Rent a mountain bike from United Cycle and go for a tour of our river valley bike trails, then when it gets dark go to the Commercial Hotel Blues on Whyte and drink some Big Rock ale. If time permits and you are so inclined, take a drive outside the city (north towards Fort Saskatchewan) and have a look at the Canola fields in full bloom....welcome to the Flatland

As far as escaping to some where cooler...I'm not sure, seems hot here to me, but I'm from the east coast and am genetically encoded to exist in a fog bank...ha, ha. How are things in New Orleans?

Just teasin'. Nothing wrong with reviving a thread, and nothing wrong with quiet, altho with the price of oil up, I'll bet things are hoppin' all over Alberta right now.

Haven't been up that way since 1999. Waterton is great, and up towards your Glacier Prov Park; that whole SW Alberta SE British Columbia is fantastic in the summer. My paternal g'parents took the train to Banff every third year from Niagara Falls when I was little, and I so wanted to come along.

I promise you, based on my sense of dismay in the summer, leaving your area coming back into the humidity of the Gulf Coast, I would give a whole lot to have your Alberta 'hot' for three months each year.

Holy moly!!!!! I just looked at the date...that is waaaaaaaaaaaay too funny...now I see...duh!!!!!!! Guess that's what happens when I work 7 12 hour night shifts in a row

Go visit avenue guitars on Whyte Ave. It's one of the coolest guitar shops I've ever visited.

Avenue guitars is the place to go. Avenue guitars does not haggle on the price. They have the best selection of Fenders and vintage guitars. Another place is Mothers Music. They also have a good selection. Stay away from Long and MCQuade. If you are in the West Edmonton Mall...check out Giovani's Muisc. They have a good selection of Fenders. Also the mall has a Hooters.

Blues on Whyte is the best bet for live music.
