Live in japan
Maybe two months ago I read a post about BB King Live in japan, and I've been looping that cd ever since, he's on fire. Then recently I see another thread saying that Buck Owen's best live is in Japan, and another says this about Deep Purple too?!
What's going on in Japan? Are the audiences fantastic or something? |

Good point, there do seem to be a lot of live in Japan albums out there, Albert Collins, Cheap Trick, and Bob Dylan come to mind. There could be a spirit there that inspires performers, or maybe just some good recording companies.
Not so good for the great Johnny Guitar Watson, though, as he had a heart attack and died while performing on stage in Yokohama.

"american" music is really popular in japan. i was at a school where there were lots of jazz players in boston, and there were lots of japanese students and i know of many people who went to japan to work as musicians. jazz is really popular there, and especially americans playing jazz.. even so there are lots of VERY GOOD japanese players too. it was a frequent discussion like.. isnt it funny that this american music seems to be so much more appreciated in japan.
everyone i heard from who played there liked it for those reasons |
