What's your favorite style of pizza?
New York (gas, wood or coal), Chicago deep dish, Connecticut style, West Coast, Greek Pizzaria style, White Pie? Grilled? Traditional toppings or off the wall? Beach pizza?
I'm partial to a nice garlicky white pie.

It's also the best type by a long distance, most other styles of Pizza are basically over the top messes. Quality ingredients and skilled preparation are what makes a good pizza, not calories included or how many types of cheese it has. |

At one time it was anything goes, but now I like it simple: Margherita, but the dough and cheese better be good! It's so hard to find a good crust nowadays with all the chains, not to mention the skim milk mozzarella they use.
Oh, and I happen to like anchovies on occasion.

I really love it all...mostly anything doughy that has sauce and cheese works for me. But I prefer the thin crust New York style. I'll try most toppings but like to stick with the basics like pepperoni, shrooms, peppers, onions, sausage etc. Even tho I'm not too picky with what I'll try, very few pies get my ringing endorsement. I'm not too snobby to settle for one of the chain places once in awhile, but you'll never hear me say that they are good. I'm just a pizza junkie.

Mozzarella is a good example because it cannot be chilled (as it destorys the internal structure of the cheese ruining texture and flavour) and must be eaten fresh. So most people will never ever get to eat real, properly made and fresh Mozzarella. It is rare if near to impossible to get any proper Mozzarella outside Italy. I know that here in the UK special herds of the right buffalo bread had to be imported just to create a small amount of real Mozzarella. Even then very few resturants would even use the right Mozzarella. Again a lot of the time people don't use the right tomatos for the sauce, though its easier to get as it can be tinned without ruining the flavour. Anyway it's virtually impossible to get proper pizza outside a few resturants with artisan surpliers. I might be biased I once had pizza in Naples when I was a kid that made me despise all other pretenders. Luckily in the past few years a few places making traditional Neapolitan pizzas opened in South London, so I can atleast get close. |

We've got this place in Parma called Antonio's - perhaps you've heard of it. Other than that, I'm a big fan of Chicago-style deep dish.

I used to love ham and pineapple pizza from all the big 3: Pizza Hut, Dominos and Little Caesars - then I went to Chicago and had some real pizza. It has ruined me forever.
I still eat the fast food stuff but it shouldn't even be called pizza. I was perfectly happy in my ignorance...
