Brian Setzer hospitalized

Apparently he collapsed last night after walking offstage during a performance.

Well wishes for the King of the Cats!

Yeah. Definitely one of my all-time favorites.

There has been some speculation that his collapsing may have been due to exhaustion or the mile-high altitude of the venue he was playing. No word on his website at this point, and very few details available.

I sure do hope he's okay.

i just hope it doesn't spin into a needlessly out-of-control story and that he's OK.

Hope he's alright, it's his big Christmas tour time, and I know he really pushes himself this time of year.
I was thinkin' about catching his Christmas show next week in Vegas.

I saw him last week. He wailed but looked a little tired, which is not unusual for an old road dog like him. The story I saw said he had been released so I hope he'll be ok in short order.

Bummer. Hope he didn't break a hand or arm in the fall. Or anything else, for that matter.

Disturbing news, man I hope he's ok.

sending good mojo his way.

Quote:
Brian Setzer, the Grammy Award winning front man for the Stray Cats and the Brian Setzer Orchestra, collapsed while performing at Isleta Casino Monday night. Audience members report that Setzer was about two songs into his initial set when he walked off stage appearing shaky.
An Isleta employee says that Setzer collapsed after leaving the stage and was rushed to a local hospital.
No one has released which hospital Setzer was taken to or what his condition is.
The Albuquerque Journal reports that concert goers can get a full refund and have two weeks to collect it. Setzer is scheduled to perform in Phoenix tonight. No word on whether that concert is still on.

According to this post (it's TMZ so take it with a grain of salt) he has been released from the hospital and is still planning on playing a show tonight in Phoenix so it must not have been anything major.

I thought he wasn't looking too great on the recent Conan appearance. I hope he's taking care of himself.

Best wishes for Brian. The world would be a sadder place without him wailing away on that Gretsch.

They may be sleazy and tabloid-y, but they've got an excellent record for accuracy, as far as I can tell.

Some of us are getting "up there" so to speak. Hope he's seeing a doc if there's any question about his health. He may have to take it easy if he's been pushing himself too much.

Saw him the previous night (Sat.) in OK. Played great, terrific energy, and a decently long set (and encore). Didn't think he looked tired at all.

Here's hoping it was just a little stumble and all's well (or soon will be)

Brian smokes, drinks and back in the day loved to party. I have know idea how he handles that at our age with a heavy road schedule for a whole orchestra.

Told to me from someone who works with him: Brian will routinely kill half a fifth of single malt Scotch before doing a show. Maybe it is time to slow it down a little. Great player and entertainer. The Christmas show is excellent. Hope he's OK.

That's not good news to hear.

All that catches up with most people at an earlier age than his.

I'm sorry that Brian got sick and had to end the show, but I really enjoyed having the opportunity to meet him. A helluva nice guy and a perfect gentleman. He gave me one of his guitar picks embossed with his signature that he had used in some of his shows, very cool. Medium thickness, hot pink color. Later that night when things calmed down, I used it on my tele that I keep close by. That'll have to become my go-to pick for rockabilly songs. Give me inspiration to improve my chops, at least!

Good News

He seems to be ok again.

...he was treated for dehydration, high altitude sickness and vertigo. a posting on his Web site says Setzer recovered quickly and will perform as scheduled Tuesday night in Phoenix.

I saw him last year with the Cats and he was brilliant, best gig I've ever seen. One of my favorite bands.

Very, very relieved to hear he's alright, I gasped when I read the thread title.

Well - he's trying to take care of himself. He'd probably wouldn't even be here if it was blended...

Just saw BSO at the Ryman and Wow, what a show! My wife said it was probably the best show she has ever seen and she normally does not like live music. I sure hope he recovers fully. Many prayers will go up for a fine entertainer.
