Any Chris Isaak fans?

Been a fan since '85.

Going to see him Dec 30 in Indy. Looking forward to getting drenched in some reverb!

One of his best:

Yeah I like the crooner-good voice and good laid back music for our summers with a beer or three. He's well liked down here and he likes us. Tonetele, Australia.

I really like a lot of Chris' stuff although the last I bought was "Speak of the Devil" (1998 or so). That CD didn't do it for me and I haven't gone back to the well so to speak. "San Francisco Days" and "Forever Blue" are my favorites although his first two have their followers too.

He puts on a hell of a live show. The "talent" in the crowd is usually quite impressive.

After "San Francisco Days" a key element of "Chris Isaak" went missing. In the video above it's the guy with the Stratocaster on stage-left. That's James Wilsey (a TDPRI member and occasional poster), and he was as much responsible for the success of those first four records as Chris was, in my opinion. Chris, although having tried, has never re-captured "his" sound again after they went their separate ways.

+1, although I am indeed a big Chris Isaak fan. We did a couple of nightclub shows in the mid-80's, and he and his band were great. I'd also agree with timmytVA's comment about the talent in the crowd. Usually good enough to distract me from the stage.

Yes, Jimmy Wilsey is a GREAT guitarist and a GREAT guy! I love his latest CD "EL DORADO". He definitely was the early Chris Isaak sound. I like Hershal, but I really miss Jimmy.

Jimmy's reverb is so wet, you need a raincoat listening to him play.

Loved his stuff. Loved the clean guitar and the fantastic vocals. And the great songs. Imagine my surprise when I found James Wilsey is a TDPRI member.

I did a support back in the 90s, with the post JCW line-up, with Hershel Yatovitz on guitar. A fine player as well, IMO. And as an entertainer, I reckon Chris Isaak is one of the best I've ever seen.

Do a member search for Wicked GTR...

A great player, and a gracious man.

No, she is not. Anyone out there seen that CMT Crossroads with her and Joss Stone? They are simply great together. Probably my favorite episode. Alas, I digress...

While we're on Chris Isaak, I've always wondered which songs/parts Danny Gatton played on the "San Francisco Days" record. Anyone know the specifics???

I think it's "Can't do a Thing (To Stop me) but I am not sure.

Sounds like Danny and his sweeps and pedal steel trick:

Pretty big fan of the stuff with JCW on guitar......

Is it just me or does the playing on "Wicked game" sound like it was influeneced a bit by Peter Green on "Albatross"?

What say you, WickedGTR?

Does anyone know if this CD is available again at prices mere mortals can actually afford? Last time I checked, it was out of print, and NOS copies were selling on Amazon for $70 each! I PM'd Mr. Wilsey about it on TDPRI, and he said that price was too high, and that he'd look into it. Never heard back from him, but I'd still like to get a copy of his CD.

Big, big fan here, Chris Isaak is one of my favorite singers, and JC Wilsey's guitar on the early albums made some of my all-time-favorite guitar tones (also love his solo CD); but I do like some of the later, post-Wilsey stuff, too, particularly the "Baja Session"-album.

Was in a shop the other day and heard him playing. I asked the salesperson what it was and she said it was some Christmas CD. Sounded like smooth jazz though. Does he have a current Christmas or Jazzy CD? Can't find it. Cheers.

Not on iTunes Australia, but nor is most of Redd Volkaert's stuff either. Will order actual CD. This is going to sit proudly and dustily next to Bing Crosby's White Christmas until each December. Cheers.

It's very common. Chris originally put it on a video compilation VHS tape back in the early 90's.

It's now part of his greatest hits CD/DVD package with an awesome and hilarious dvd commentary track by Chris.

They shot that video over in Europe and they put so much Aqua Velvet in his hair, it would run down into his eyes and make him cry.

Yeah, he's got some amazing pipes. Wicked Games and Bad,Bad Thing are my favorites, although let's face it, without the guitar parts they wouldn't stand out like they do.

Yeah I like Chris. Very different kind of sound, sort of edgy and just a bit sinister. Not all the time but....
