...the Saturday gig...

...anyone who was playing in a small band, in a little club, on a dismal, cold, wet and windy December night, almost anywhere, might find at least some of the images in this home-made video familiar...

Go on, go on, go on, you miserable git's you just love it !!

If we didn't do the endless trudge around those places you'd never appreciate the nights where it all sounds great and it all comes together (and it's down stairs with a good get in) and you'd have to stay home on a Saturday and watch the latest PopIdol/'X'factor/Britains got talent/Casualty drivel.

Now, turn that thing down will you ? I always sit here next to the PA and I want to talk to my mate !!!

Hey Big John. This past September I worked the main stage at a festival here in Rhode Island. On the bill was "Big Sandy And His Fly-Rite Boys". All their gear was in the cardboard/duct tape road cases!

I spoke to guitarist Ashley Kingman about his Magnatone guitar with the Bigsby neck and was surprised to detect...a BRITISH ACCENT. Hmmm, your theory may be panning out here!

All great guys and a great band.

great video - nice idea for local protection too - and that slim acoustic guitar looked really cool :-)

Thank you Joe M...

...well, I'm usually pretty easy to spot as, apart from being 6'4", I'm always the only one on stage who forgets the lyrics and messes up the guitar intros...

This Saturday we're playing for the Sonoma Co. Sherriff Association Christmas Party. I'm thinking we should get a "get out of jail free" card. Or at least an escort home.

You put a huge smile on my face Jack! I could practically smell the stale spilled beer on the stage carpet.

By the way -nice shirt!

..."the smell of stale spilled beer"...

...is what keeps bringing me back!

Actually, it is a great gig to play, but I don't remember when I last had to share a stage with a bucket...

..for Mightyaxeman and indiobravo...

...and anyone else who might be interested, thanks for your enquiry. That guitar is an old 1960s Fender Newporter, that has had a couple of alterations.

I've always called it "The Pat O'Caster" (and yes I know we have a fellow TDPRIer here with that name too), and I'll try to post a picture or something, over the next couple of days; I'll put it in a separate post.
