My friend had the opportunity to meet Dime a few months before this happened, he was apparently the nicest, most down to earth guy you'd ever want to meet. The world lost a great talent that day... RIP.

I remember being at the Frankfurt Music fair in March 2005, just a few months after Dimebag died and the Dean stand, had Dimebag's famous ML guitars on display, the actual ones he used to play. The Sunburst one with the KISS sticker, the blue one with the lightning bolts, the black one with the bullit holes AND the guitar he was playing when he got shot.

I couldn't help but to notice how a lot of people stopped by that guitar and hung their head in a silent tribute to him, that was a very powerful image.

RIP "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott.

I've just dug out "Cowboys From Hell" from my CDs, great album.

I believe he is buried with Eddie Van Halen's yellow guitar that was used on the 2nd V H album.

Man, I still remember vividly my gf at the time calling me and waking me up the morning after it happened to tell me.....what a shock. Still surreal to think that's he's gone.

He was here with Damageplan about 3 months before he was killed. I thought about taking my nephew to see them, and regret that I didn't.

For anyone that think that this is just brain-dead, headbanging music, check this out.

you know, abbott's music might not have been the tdpri's regular cup 'o tea, so it's cool to see him appreciated and remembered here...

he was a great guitar player who inspired a lot of kids to pick up the guitar, and who always came off as a pretty normal, down to earth dude, despite his look and the ferocious sound of his guitar. rest in piece, indeed.
