how would you feel if Fender . . .

sold out? or went under altogether?

i'm not normally one to spread rumours or even listen to them, but . . . i have heard from people who know the music business very well that Fender is making some desperate moves. their feeling is that Fender as we know it is on the way out and that it will soon be owned by a foreign conglomorate like Hoshino (who owns Ibanez and Tama).

so how would you feel if Fender went totally overseas? or just quit for good? would a Tele still be a Tele??

Cooper, If a Tele is made on Pluto

it's still a Tele...I think Fender's diversity is so extreme
it may be hurting the sales of so-called "Core Instruments".....My question is: Are they REALLY the manufacturers of ALL those solid state Amps....I mean
ming ya they got a "bunch" to say the least....

(hey....shhhh...I think "the bad thread" is DEAD).

Wouldn't bother me a bit, I'd still have the teles and strat I like and would continue to check out any new Fender (or whatever they would turn into) guitars and base my decision to buy on how they sounded/played, just like I do now. The way I see it if they disappeared there is enough of a market that the void would be filled. I don't really have much 'brand loyalty' for any company/product, so I really have little to no interest in bussiness decisions (that don't affect me). Still I wouldn't want to see Fender core products just disappear or run into the ground for a quick buck or write off.

If Fender ceased to exist, a Tele would still be a Tele, regardless of the name on the headstock.

Some of my favorite Telecasters are say "Fernandes", or "Tokai" on the headstock.

I think of a Telecaster as being a style of guitar rather than a model of a particular manufacturer.

I suspect

Fender is somehow already owned by powers, unknown. Perhaps by fender japan.
