Live from daryl's house
i cant remember if i posted this before, but i know its been acknowledged here in various posts.
LIVE FROM DARYL'S HOUSE is daryl hall's (hall and oates) brainchild. it is homegrown music played in his house in upstate new york. its video taped for the website of the same name. he has had amazing musicians, young and old, not so famous and famous, rock and soul and alternative and folkie and a mix of all. he offers a monthly installment that usually runs through an: intro to that months artist; a set of 5 or 6 songs from the artist with daryl singing along (and a few of daryls gems thrown in too) backed by members of the hall and oates band. theyve also added a cooking segment: making apple cider or sausage in daryls kitchen; or other ethnic foods... this months cooking segment was with daryl's dad, in house, orchestrating a genuine pennsylvania clambake! if youve ever had a good party playing live music in your living room with good friends and sprinkled with good food and drink... YOU'LL LOVE THIS!!! http://www.livefromdarylshouse.com/ rand z |

LOVE that website. Complete unashamed H&O fan boy and have been since I was little. Daryl wrote some killer tunes, had and still has an amazing voice and just tons of soul. Some of their music had some of the best bass lines ever.
If any of you haven't checked out the site, check out the Monte Montgomery episode. First off, in the hole I was living in, I'd never heard of him. Sarah Smile is a huge favorite of mine and he covers it. THEN search him out on youtube for his version of Little Wing. Mind blowing how he makes that acoustic sing. |

i dont know how daryl supports the expense of doing this...
perhaps its out of his own pocket just to entertain and have a good time. but, whatever... its absolutely fabulous and the music is always great... sometimes otherworldly. there have been some really stellar, magical moments. i love roaming around in his house or yard, via the camera. its very gracious of daryl to do this... rand z |

There's a couple of ads on there, like ULINE, if I remember correctly. He also sells merchandise. Don't know if any of that adds up to much. Indirectly it probably stoked ticked sales to their acoustic tour they did.
