The NJ Nets are now 0-14:

Sorry if it seems like I'm posting too many threads but I have to comment on this. They are very close to having the worst start in the history of the NBA.

It doesn't look good for them in the near future cause they play the LA Lakers on Sunday and come back to play the Dallas Mavericks when they return home. Tomorrow night they have a slight chance of ending the streak but I hold little hope.

The funny thing is I think the team has a lot of potential but they suffered some key injuries at the start of the season. They gave what I think is the best team in the league all they could handle awhile ago- the Boston Celtics. Now they have to wait for thier best player- Devin Harris to get back into NBA playing shape.

They'll be my team no matter what but I hope they don't get the dubious honor of having the record for worst start in history.

Hopefully a #1 or #2 draft pick in '10, unless they've traded it away already.

Anyway, they've got bad karma for planning to leave Jersey.

They oughtta be the NY Nets in the first place. The Meadowlands is the worst place in the world to go watch a game. You have to deal with the traffic on the NJ Turnpike every time you go to a game and also have to pay to park before you even pay to get in or buy refreshments.

I won't miss the Izod Center at all and wish they would've moved to the place in Newark.

Exactly, why not share Newark with the Devils?

Dude, I'm a Warriors fan. I've been in hell forever... we had one little tiny, teeny, weeny little bit of hope a couple of years ago... back to suckville...

I'd also like to whine that the niners suck as bad as I thought they would... Singletary is good at one thing: Emotional, talk tough speeches... he makes them everywhere...

Baby Jeebus can't you send us Mike Shanahan? Please...

Oh yeah, the Giants will be good next year (not the Eli Giants, the Pablo Giants)

okay, back to the cave for me.

I often wonder what the great Niners of the '80s think of how far their team has fallen in the last decade. I feel very lucky that I got to see Montana, Clark, Rice, Craig, Lott, et al, during those great years. It's just wrong to see them be so bad for so long.

About the only good thing is that this year's 49ers went back to the classic uniforms in the style of Montana, Rice, etc.

I feel your pain chet. Here I am in the hockey centre of the universe -Toronto- and we're again saddled with the worst team in the league.

Year after year the Leafs stink up the league, yet all of their games are either sold out, or near capacity. Ever get the feeling you're being cheated?

Ha ha! The NJ Nets haven't sold out a game in years. Yet they're charging insane prices for the best seats.

For what?

I watch all the games on cable for free. I get to see every one of them.

Even when they were playing for the championship I don't think they sold out the games. The location is all wrong. They should've moved to Newark, NJ in the first place but I think they want to get back to NYC for the media coverage.

Yup. Time to tank the season and get the best shot at the lottery.

I don't think they even have to try.

My bro-in law's best friend is a professional gambler/handicapper.

Does quite well and lives half the year in Vegas.

He says it's an open secret that point shaving and thrown games still happen in the NBA and he and others subsequently leave basketball alone.

Just saying...

You rule! exactly!

Where is Cedric Hardmann?

We get to hear Ronnie Lott on the radio every week... those guys are just classy, they root for the team, no BS, but they pull for the guys...

Hey, I don't have to have a repeat of the 80's... I'll take the Brodie years with Gene Washington... I'm just tired of faceless guys... what really sucks is that we watched Aaron Rodgers in college and he would have been a perfect fit with the niners.. they could have kept Garcia while Rodgers got ready... we might not have been playoff bound but we wouldn't be an embarrassment.

Now, with the Broncos being our second favorite team... the very sucky Mike Nolan is now STILL part of our lives....

How I wish Shanahan could come to SF... but it ain't happenin'.

Start yer own Niners thread getbent.

I think the Nets don't really care about this season anyway. The new owner called the rap star co-owner Jay-Zee about the inside scoop on LeBron James as soon as he got in on the ownership. I don't know if Jay-Zee is still a co-owner or not.

I think the Nets are banking on getting LeBron or Dwayne Wade next year.

The Giants are playing the Broncs tomorrow night. It's gonna be a good day to watch football tomorrow.

Is this a Nets thread (low interest except for Nets fans...yep, both of them) or a "my home team sucks and it is causing me great pain" thread?

I thought it was the latter... but if it is the former.. I'll leave it to you, the nets fans, and the crickets (apologies to Buddy Holly)

Neither will go to a crappy team like the Nets. I like Terrance Williams (from Louisville)

Isn't there a Russian billionaire who is close to buying controlling ownership?

I wouldn't bet on that.

The Nets are a LeBron James or Dwayne Wade away from being right up there with the Celts. They have a great young center who's durable and getting better all the time but isn't ready to put the team on his shoulders just yet- Brook Lopez.

They also have a marquee point guard in Devin Harris who could get either LeBron or Wade all the great shots they'd need to lead the league in scoring.

They have two power fowards in Josh Boone and Sean Williams who could get all the shot blocks and rebounds needed.

Add in Terrence Williams and Chris Douglas-Roberts and you got the makings for a team that could contend for a long time.

And Yi has loads of potential. I hope he remains in their plans.

Let's see if they can hang on and beat the 76ers record for the worst season ever: 6 wins and 76 losses.
