From playin covers 30 years ago...

Blue Jean Blues, Beer Drinkers Hell Raisers - ZZ Top
Rock n Roll - Led Zeppelin

One tune that I have made my own and play all the time is Robin Trower's version of "I am Sailing". The original folk song was in a major key - a la Rod Stewart's version. Robin Trower remade the tune with relative minors - G, Em7/9, C, Em7/9, Am, Em7/9, Am, G.

Thirty years ago I used some kind of thumb-'n'-strum finger-style method. For the past couple years I have used flatpicks, and I find that I have to relearn the songs when I dig them up, or put down the pick for a minute. Then I try to develop some kind of solo bridge for them, too, something that's awkward for me now, but it was impossible back then. Now that my partscaster is cookin', I hope to learn chicken pickin'.

I still play Castles made of Sand as my warm up tune, or if trying out a guitar for the first time.
