Skydive revisited

Remember that post I put here saying how I walked away from it because I feared for my life due to the lack of safety awareness ?
A guy died there this week (Strathallan), his chute "fell" off !
I'm speechless !!!!!

I've been reading on that....

They now think it may have been suicide. A cameraman supposedly had video that proves it, although the police haven't released that info yet.

Suicide.

If that is the case then that is terrible. Imagine allowing someone to video you whilst doing it, there is no forgiving that.
Whatever the reason for the death, it is tragic.

Update..

From the "Online Sun"

A SKYDIVER committed suicide by throwing away his parachute at 9,000ft — a day after splitting with his teenage girlfriend.

Alastair McLaren, 39, killed himself in front of 14 horrified pals he was jumping with in a national event.

The dad of two split from his teen love just the day before his deadly leap from a plane at 13,500ft.

He had been staying with a friend since moving out of the family home and leaving his 13-year-old son and daughter aged 16.

A pal said last night: “He split up with his 19-year-old girlfriend the day before he was killed.

“I believe he was having a lot of troubles which he was finding very difficult to cope with.”

Mr McLaren threw away his parachute at 9,000ft after jumping from a twin-engined Dornier with 14 pals on Sunday evening.

The experienced skydiver — with 800 jumps to his credit around the world — was taking part in a national competition.

He hurtled to the ground at 120mph and landed in an oilseed rape field.

His body was not found until early yesterday by an RAF search and rescue crew.

The parachute — which it is believed was not deployed — was still missing last night.

Suicide

Yes, it is true although it is presently being investigated there is little doubt it was a suicide.
Just coincidental that it happened at the very same club with the highest rate of UK fatalities though !
