Attention CD shoppers, I got screwed by Spun.com

Just a warning to everyone doing, or about to do, business with this company SPUN

Here's the story. They sell and buy new and used CDs. I've bought from them with no problems, but when they have to pay you for stuff…well, let's say that their behavior and performance is less than stellar…

I bought a CD and sell them 3 CDs as a trade in. When you sell to them, they give you a quote that you must accept. They got the CDs but decided to buy them for $2.46 less alleging that they were different than the ones I "promised", as their email says. I contacted them to know what the problem was and they acknowledge that the CDs match band and title but they gave some BS about UPC codes, and the sort.

I'm really PO fellows…Even though $2.46 isn't a big deal, that isn't the point. It's a matter of principles. I paid full for the CD I bought and they have to do the same…I estimate that if they're ripping off a couple of bucks from every customer, it'll yield thousands of dollars a year…nice scheme!!!!

I'm already disputing the charge with the credit card company and here's what I got from Spun

Hi! Unfortunately, we will be unable to reverse this charge for you as the promised items were not sent. Please feel free to contact your credit card company. Thanks! Kat

So fellow TDPRIers, beware! Don't do business with these scammers!!!!!

Thanks for the heads-up on that. Never dealt with them, have bought from secondspin (& GEMM), iirc. Have few dozen CDs I'd like to sell, though.

Whew..

I'm glad you posted that, after the Clarence White Nashville West post, they had the cheapest prices on the CD and I almost got one.

Don't worry if you're only buying. As I said in my post, no problem buying at all. I got screwed selling...

I would be really cool if we could find a way to skimp on what we pay them, saying that the CDs aren't the right UPC :)

I have bought from spun dot com several times with no problems. I believe the best way to sell CDs is on the Amazon site. You can list them, price them and when they sell, amazon handles all the paperwork with emails to the seller and the buyer. You print out the address label and Amazon promptly sends payment to your bank account (minus the shipping fee and a small fee for them). Very convenient.

I realize this is a pretty old thread, but I am just wondering if any people have any other info about these services? I have a bunch of CD's I need to get rid of, and secondspin.com seems like a really good way of doing it. Obviously I am hesitant to send them like 30 cd's though.
