1967 - Magic Mountain Music Festival - was anyone else there?

I went to this festival on June 10 1967, it was called the KFRC Fantasy Fair & Magic Mountain Music Festival. I saw the Doors, and several other groups.

A friend who went with me just reminded me of this. We were both 13 at the time.

Check out the lineup:

Heck of a line-up, and one week before Monterey Pop.

I note Sparrow played the festival ... to become Steppenwolf a year later.

Unless my Mom was there with me in her womb, can't say I made that gig.

I wanted to be there so bad, but I was 14 with no transportation. I missed out on Monterey for the same reason. The next year I started hitchhiking.

I grew up in the Bay Area, but this is the first I've heard of this event.

On a side note, I miss KFRC and Top 40 Radio in general.

I was mostly a KYA fan... do you remember KDIA? They had their tower right there by the Oakland approach to the Bay Bridge.

I remember, but my memories are vague. They're also generally about a decade newer than yours, so the format of the station might've been different by the time I became aware of it. My memory tells me that KDIA was more soul oriented.

I lament the fact that hitchhiking is a lost art in our day and age! I never see a thumb on the side of a highway anymore! Remember all the handmade signs .. going my way ... etc? People are too paranoid or self-obsessed now.

KYA, KDIA, KSOL, KLIV down in San Jose, and KEWB in Oakland. It was a great time for AM radio. Do you remember the trancendental two ton mustard seed?
The local community station in Fort Collins is KRFC and I always have to think about not saying KFRC. (We used to call it K-Farce)

oh yes, the Mustard Seed was a great program. Nice list, I had almost forgotten KEWB - channel 91! KMPX was another - the first "underground" FM station that really mixed-up the musical genres.

I was always a sucker for a creative sign.
One of my favorites simply said "HOME".
My son was recently told by a schoolteacher that hitching is now illegal in PA.
Say it ain't so!
