Sgt. Pepper Live - Cheap Trick

Just picked this up and am listening as I type this. It's a fun listen with CT playing with the NY Philharmonic Orchestra and a couple special guests (including an Indian music ensemble). Co-produced and mixed by Geoff Emerick. They play the whole album in order and finish with the medley from Abbey Road (Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight & The End). They really do a good job. I saw that they played some shows in Vegas. I hope they tour behind it.

Doug

With the NYPO? and Geoff E?????? My God. Bet it's great.

Just finished Geoff's book - a great read and awesome insight into the whole thing.

I recently got a similar CD of Michael Portnoy (drummer for Dream Theater) with Paul Gilbert and some stellar players doing a whole live gig in NYC of Beatles stuff. They had the real/actual recordings of the strings and horns from SPLHCB recordings and played along with them. Pretty good for metal guys.

I'm a big fan of Cheap Trick and the Beatl4es. I wanted to love it, but it didn't really do it for me. The visual presentation is rather lacking, with the stage too crowded and rather messily arranged. Cheap Trick never quite puts enough in to their live video productions.

Letterman's Will Lee on bass. Conan's Jimmy Vivino on keys and guitar depending on which tunes they do. "The Fab Faux" They perform entire albums live. Check out other vids on youtube.
