Digital Camcorders ?

My partner will be in Houston (working) for a couple of weeks later this month. I want a digital camcorder with an S.D. Memory slot for stills, min.8K megapixels, image stabilization, preferably with a flash facility. Must be small enough to be kept in a "bum-bag"
Any ideas what is out there and where to get it from. Your help and input here will be greatly appreciated guys.

Canon ZR75

I bought a Canon ZR75 back at Christmas after comparing camcorders for about 3 months before. This camera is an awesome little camera. It does take still shots and has a memory card and image stabilization.(most of them do now days) It will also send pics to your computer for editing with a fire wire. Remember that the higher the OPTICAL zoom, the clearer the images. This one is 22X optical. I haven't found a higher one yet for under $1000. I also looked at Sony, but they had more digital zoom which becomes fuzzy as you zoom in on objects. You can compare camcorders at bestbuy.com...and they have a little section you can learn a lot from about purchasing the camcorder that suits your needs. I think I paid $700 for mine, and it'll do stuff that I dont know how to do without studying the manual for a while. Hope this helps out. Good luck!! 8)

BTW...I'm pretty sure they have newer models out now, like a ZR85 or 90....Same thing as the 75, just more features.

Thanks

Thanks for that info, Canon certainly seem to have the lion's share of positive reviews on camcorders. I'll check out the model(s) you suggested.

I'm sure you're aware of this Scotland, but don't forget to ask your partner to specify a PAL (Phase Alternating Line) system camcorder and not NTSC (National Television Standards Committee). I'd probably go for a Canon too, but Panasonic's offerings are always well worth checking out.

You are of course, perfectly correct and thankyou, I had forgotten about that detail, thank you for reminding me my friend.
