Poll: What % of people actually read a thread before posting?

There it is.

You can't say this hasn't bothered you before.

You read the thread through and you see how many people repeat the same ideas.

Totally oblivious that the same sentiment was in a post 6 posts back and 3 posts before that etc. etcetera ETCETERA !

Ya I know in a monster thread it can't be helped, but on the average topic this happens as often as the three word repartee.

So what's your guess. And how does it make you feel?

I'm greater than 20% likely but less than 50% likely to read an entire post including all threads. If that is the mathematical jist of your thread.

It has got to be a very interesting thread for me to read the whole thing, and I'm sorry to say of every topic discussed here on a daily bases, usually 20% are interesting.

I think alot of people post in unison and ends up looking like repetes and lack of awareness from poster. Happened to me on the Youtube watch so and so shred thing a day or so ago back.

PS....people just love having an opinion too.

I'm definitely a 3 saddle guy . . .

sorry . . . what was the topic???

I think StuH has a point . . . time differences and internet speeds have a lot to do with the doubling up of answers to a thread.

Plus . . . this is a place for us lonely, desperate, guitar nerds to gather . . . and sometimes we just need to feel we belong !

Thread #6:

Most, since the majority of threads are short. If you don't read relevant, or recent posts on a thread before posting, shame on you!

If it's a thread that interests me enough to post, it's a thread I'll read completely.

Yeah I agree with that guy^

I'm usually on my phone, so I read as I scroll down to the box. If I don't lose intrest, I'll usually post. Also, if I read a post and think of something to say, I'll usually reply in a hurry, skipping the rest of the thread.

I think a lot of times people are just replying at the same time, leading to similar posts. A good rule would be that if you're going to respond, then you should read the entire post first.

as a former newspaper editor, i compulsively edit them in my head and often wonder if posters actually backread their post once it's written. i always read my posts once they're up and use the Edit function extensively to clean 'em up.

but as to the original topic, i voted less than 50%. several times in the early going, i dashed out a top-of-the-head reply only to find out that i was repeating info already posted. so i started skimming even the long posts so's not to show my cluelessness.

Seriously, how many people post a thread JUST like this one, even though we JUST had a similar one 3 weeks ago?

At our church meetings when a topic would drag on-n-on our pastor would say, "Everything has been said.... Just not everybody has said it". Same here, if I have something "I" want to say, then I say it, probably before I've read the entire thread.

I didn't have time to read the thread, but I'd like to add:

-its "greater THAN" not "then"

-someone once said, "everything has been said...Just not everyone has said it". Heard that once while visiting a church in San Jose.

But seriously. No big deal to me. You cast your line, you get back what you get back. Weed through the answers you like, throw out the repeats or the trolls. Its not like your paying your internet bill by the word count or anything.

Ain't nuthin' formal 'bout this place, bud.

Actually, in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing, a conjunction is a useful stylistic tool when used to start a sentence.

You now what really bugs me?

That's when somebody posts a sentiment that is exactly like the one that was posted just three posts before that, and three before that.

How does that make you feel?
