Saw Johnny A again last night
What a phenomenal player this guy is.I just don't understand why he is not a better known artist but I do asppreciate seeing him in a bar that holds under 100 people.

I'm going to see Johnny tonight in my hometown in a very small room. It's the third time I've seen him there, and I'm usually seated about 5 feet away from him. What a treat! Can't wait...

I caught him a few weeks ago - his studio recordings do not do his live show justice. He has a live cd/dvd coming out at the beginning of the year, he mentioned, and I bet it'll be a better indicator of his total musicianship. He's much more raw and powerful live where as the studio stuff seems more jazz-based and subdued.
He used to be the gp for Peter Wolf after Wolf left the J Geils Band. As far as why he hasn't gotten more attention, he is a true Boston guy - very blunt and non-nonsense. I appreciate that persoanlly, but I bet many in the kiss-arse music business do not. I like him a lot.
