Holy dented maple necks batman!

So my guitar has a big ugly feel weird dent on the back of the neck now.
I'm thinking CA glue, but the neck has a nice satin-almost bare feel, would that cause trouble?

If you try to apply the glue with your fingers -- yes, definitely trouble.

Bondo will stay where you put it but would look weird.
Maybe a good wood putty, once you get it "dirty" it would not be as noticable.
How deep is the dent? Pic?

Ehhh...

About 1/8" deep?
I've heard about steaming out dents, is that possible for maple?

+1 steaming is the "professional" way to fix this. Check out frets.com for some tips. If you don't think you can do it, take it to a tech. It shouldn't be a big deal to at least improve the dents.

I'm going to second steaming it, as I've had some success doing so. NOt too hot - watch the temp. Worst case scenario, be prepared to do a little sanding and apply some satin poly. Easy project!

Use a soaking wet cloth over the dent, make the steam with the tip of a soldering iron, carefully. This will raise most of the wood back to where it came from. Any dent that is left can be carefully filled with CA glue.

I have done this, it works great.

Yes it does. I took a very deep divot out of a maple neck this way. I was quite proud of myself I must say!

I feel like a bona fide luthier. Used a soldering iron and a wet napkin, and it worked swimmingly!

Great! The thing to remember is that the wood is still there, just compressed.
