Fender 73 Pro Reverb amp Trade

Hey guys!

Im looking for a dirtier sound!

I currently have a 1973 fender pro reverb amp 2x12. I've been offered a Marshall
(2001) Dsl Jcm 2000.1x12

Does anyone have any suggestios? Think its a good/bad trade?

Help with this decision will be gratly appreciated.

Thanks, Mark

You're trying to move on from one of the cleanest amps around, so what ever you go for should sound dirtier.

There are three JCM2000 1X12 combos that I know of first hand. One os the DSL201, 20 watt 1X12, the least desireable of the three. It really ain't much to get excited about IMO. The second is the DSL401, one of my favorite amps. Great cleans, killer crunch, and you can boost the OD gain to get very agressive if you like. It's an all around GREAT sounding amp. I'd take one over a Pro Reverb (or any other Fender amp) any day of the week. But folks are right, speaking strictly monetarily, your Pro is worth more money. I'd say if the guy could throw you the Marshall, and $600-$700 cash, it would be a fair deal if it sounded like what you're looking for.

The third 1X12 in the 2000 lineup is the TSL601. 60 watts, three channels with various boosts and shape switches. It's a smoking hot amp, with more diversity than I would ever need. I love the tones to pieces, but it's more junk than I would ever use.

I really consider the DSL401 one of the best all around guitar packages ever built. And for the prices they are going for used (I have seen them recently sell locally anywhere from $400-$800, and all of them sold quickly) they are a total steal for what you get if you can find one on the lower end of the spectrum.

No. DSL stands for Dual Super Lead. TSL stands for Triple Super Lead. These were the flagship JCM2000 amps. They are all tube amps, and are IMO the best sounding Marshalls since the 70's. I've had lots of 800's and 900's, and I'd take a DSL50 or DSL100 head over any of them. And for combos it's no contest. The DSL401 will straight up murder any of the JCM800 or 900 1X12 combos.

Sounds good, but I've found another alternative. I'm gonna build my own marshall. Jcm 800...The Jcm2000 sounds great..but the fender is still a vintege amp being traded for a 5 year old one...+ money is short, people are'nt giveng up their main amps + cash just because mine is vintage...

How does the kit idea sound?

not really the other kit didn't have a chassis or a head box or tubes or higher quality OT PT Cap and carbon comp resistors components

your 2/3rds of the way there with the pro

BTW building a kit is a long term project that can't be rushed

What will you play after you sell the pro and build the kit
