It might have something to do with the fact that there's an old piece of plastic on Ebay with a starting bid price of $1045.

Later...

The funniest thing to me.....

.....is the pickguard is $1000+ and he's charging you $5 for shipping.

Gee, if I paypal you the $, would you throw in shipping for free!?

LOL

I don't play the "vintage game"

anymore for very obvious reasons BUT if I owned a 1961
Strat that was missing the original pickguard and therefore was worth only 15K INSTEAD of 22K (very clean is what we're talking here) dropping a "G" to make
an additional 6K would be worth it. Sometimes in the
Vintage Realm as long as all the pieces are there and they
are original the Buyer will let the "solder thing" rest. Most
of the "dudes" who want original solder are freaks of nature that can't play anyways but sure have a nice closet/vault....shame on them for not taking a few lessons.

pickguard price

I've seen people at vintage guitar shows asking between 5- 7 hundred for ones that aren't as nice as this one

Heck, I just bought a mint 1970 strat for $35 complete. Of course it was a Hondo... but that's only a matter of some sandpaper.
