It's past 7pm . . . and still waiting on UPS
So UPS says the package is in the truck out for delivery at 8 am this morning. It requires a signature, of course. So waiting, waiting, waiting.
I check their website, says they deliver to residences until 7pm. So it's after 7 pm, and I call them. They say, no, we dont stop at 7, they keep delivering until they deliver all the packages. That is NOT what it says on the website, so far as I can tell. So I ask, how long will I have to wait (having already waited 11 hours), and they say they dont know, but the driver will come today (tonight). So I ask how much before midnight should I expect them? They say oh it usually doesnt go that late . . . . sheesh . . . . Never had this kind of problem with Fedex or USPS. Why am I so concerned? I'm waiting on a Ron Kirn Tele to arrive . . . . From now on I will tell all shippers not to use UPS . . . it wont work for the big boys like MF or M123, but for person-to-person shipments I will insist on anything but UPS.

I figure that I'm 24 hours late on a delivery... and it'll be 24 hours more (at least!) before I see it. This is what happens when your order overshoots Denver when it comes from KC and goes to SLC. Then it gets intercepted and sent back to Denver, where it might get delivered by Friday.

UPS and all of the delivery companies can be really scary to deal with. I think the process is a mess. I've had instances where the web sites will say out for delivery and guess what, I find packages outside sitting by my house and in various places for that matter. Back yard, front yard, out by the mailbox... its crazy.
Also, this whole waiting around all day sucks and needs to change.

I've actually had the least amount of problems with UPS. It's fedex that I've had the most issues with. Once they marked a package as delivered when it was not (just to meet the promised date) and I assumed it was stolen or delivered to the wrong house and worried all night until it was delivered the next day. I will never use them if I can help it. I'm sure your guitar is fine, I know the waiting is hard though!

Just the opposite here.
UPS is the worst but I think the USPS is the best by far. UPS is always the latest delivery around here. Never before 4:00 and it has been as late as 8:30pm.

I just called UPS again . . . tracking info says it is still out for delivery . . . after waiting a while, I finally get someone on the line (it is past midnight east coast time) . . . then he tells me the package has been rescheduled for delivery tomorrow . . . .
!!!!!!@#$%^&#%@$#%#% This after waiting for over 13 1/2 hours, taking a day off from work to wait for this package . . . . And this was a 2nd day air package, so they are now late. If even they still have the package. For all I know, they dont even have it. I really really really hate UPS. This is not the first time this kind of thing has happened to me with them. They told me I have to call in tomorrow to have them start a tracer investigation . . . for some reason, they cant even do that themselves, I have to call in again tomorrow in order for that to commence. What a day this has been . . . I received terrible news earlier today, then the Ron Kirn I have been waiting for all day has been either misplaced or forgotten about or intentionally omitted for delivery by UPS. May they (as a company, not individuals) get exactly what they deserve. (the folks I spoke with on the phone were actually nice, but the system UPS uses basically is the following: We don't care. We don't have to. We're UPS. As a company, they just dont care about you, and they will do nothing for you).

For a big, or super valuable package, I get it sent to the mail room at work.

As a friend of mine at FedEx says...
"You know what UPS stands for? Use Purolator Stupid!" But on another note, it's unfortunate they're late delivering such a special package. |

I waited around all day once. I lived in an old house that had been carved up into four apartments. I lived upstairs. I waited for the door bell or a knock or something. The FedEX website said "out for delivery." Finally I went downstairs just for chuckles. My guitar was sitting outside on the porch. Who knows how long it was sitting there. This was in Columbus, OH so not a huge city, but still I was a bit miffed that the driver did the drop and dash.

Regardless, you will love it!!!!! But you missed out on working with a gem of a man in Ron Kirn on a build....But you will probably love your guitar so much that you will have him build you another... and for the guy who had a guitar dropped with a dash and go by FEDEX....I had UPS do that with a $3600 Gibson Custom guitar....Even though I HAD A NOTE ON DOOR saying "Please leave with next door neighbor...do not leave outside).....Guitar was stolen as he left it at my door anyway and it sat there for who knows how many hours.....UPS BLOWS.... |

I have never had any serious problems with UPS but I always use FEDex. They are so much more professional.
I hope your guitar has not "disappeared" along the way.

just the opposite here... With UPS you can pretty much count on delivery before 11 AM; with FedEx, you know it ain't comin' until after business hours!
I work night shift and sleep in the evenings... UPS delivers early and usually to the back porch... FedEx very late... grr... and usually to the front porch... I've never had but 1 shipment damaged and that was by UPS though due to improper (STUPID) packing by some music store... so I am bummed out anytime I see someone has shipped something to me by FedEx...
