Cort Performance Series signed by Tommy Emmanuel?

So I went to a Cash Converter's (a chain of pawn shops here in Australia for those who don't know) on the way home from work. I just went in on a whim of course, not intending to buy anything. Had a look at what was there, mostly REALLY overpriced guitars as usual. But then one caught my eye.

It is, as this threads title suggests, a Cort Performance Series.
It's kind of like a cheaper Charvel Stratocaster. It has the pointy headstock and a humbucker in the bridge position etc.

I quickly noticed some writing on the front and took a closer look,
it reads

"go for it Nathan!
Tommy Emmanuel (followed by his initials)"

I had a bit of a play and surprisingly enough it was in tune and the action wasn't all that bad. The frets looked good and I couldn't find any dead spots.
The tuners were no-names, but they worked well enough and were pretty much the standard tuner, so I could easily replace them if needed.
I noticed the volume pot cut out a lot, easy fix. When it was playing through an amp it sounded pretty good. The humbucker is a "Select" designed by EMG, the middle and neck are unidentified standard Stratocaster pickups.

Amongst all the other guitars that were crappier yet more expensive, they only wanted $125 (AUD) for this guitar that played well, was in good condition and was also signed by Tommy Emmanuel.
I managed to get it for $100 .

Not sure what prices for guitars are like elsewhere, but all things considered that was a pretty decent price.

Once I got it home I had a more thorough play and found that the humbucker works great for heavier stuff and the other pickups sounds nice also. I usually like to play around with cheap guitars, repaint them and stuff, but not this guitar. I am going to set it up with some new strings and a lower action and that's about it.
I also checked Tommy Emmanuel's signature on the internet and it matches what I found, so I think it's legit. Besides, for $100 it wouldn't matter if it was fake, it's still a good guitar

$100 very well spent IMO.

Cort have been putting out some pretty darn good guitars of late.

I have a Cort G290 model which is a very good a player and equal in quality to any of my MIA telecasters. Second hand sales prices are rediculously low too.

Enjoy

Here's my G290

Wasn't this one, was it...

That's Nathan Cavaleri with Mark Knopfler.

Nathan was a bit of a TE prodigy

BTW, my Korean Hockshop Queen Strat copy is a Cort

I think mine might be an older model. It is not as flashy as the ones you have.
Its sort of Arctic White with a black scratch-plate. It is basically a fat-strat with an 80's style pointed headstock that angles down and back.

Don't get me wrong, it is still nice though lol

I found another in a different pawn shop!

This one is a bit different though. It has the same base colours (arctic white body/headstock, rosewood fretboard, maple neck and black pickguard/knobs/pickups), and it looks very similar. It is also a Cort Performance Series. However this one has a standard SSS Stratocaster configuration and a non-pointed headstock. It is your usual "cheap copy" headstock... you know the one that has that sloping inwards curve on the bottom of it.

I am thinking that it might not be made in the same place? Maybe it is one of the cheaper variants of the model? Its just odd that they are essentially the same guitar, just different headstocks and bridge pickups. I think the hardware is mostly the same... I didn't have a close enough look at the other one to see. Must check it out again.

But yeah, once again it's listed floor price is $125. But I think it has been there a while. I might check it out, see if it is of a similar quality to the first one I bought. If it is I might see if i can get it for cheaper and pass it on to a good friend who is primarily a keyboardist, but likes to use a guitar for reference when he writes guitar parts and stuff.

I was planning to do this with the one I bought, but I have become somewhat attached to it

(P.S. I need to make a Photobucket account or something so I can post pictures on here. Would make it a hell of a lot easier then describing it )
