One of my saddest day's as a Seattle sports junkie was when they traded away Randy Johnson. I'm so happy for his success. And at 40!! Give hope to us old farts!!

If you have a favorite athelete, regardless of the sport, hope and pray they get traded to Seattle. You'll be guaranteed as soon as the Seattle team trades them away a few years later, ( usually for nothing! ) they will become an all star, hero, hall of famer. Abouth the only good thing a Seatle team has done is the Seahwaks being smart enough to keep Steve Largent for his entire career.

But back to Randy.....man, was he overpowering or what! Complete control and an amazing fast ball. What's boggles my mind is that Nolan Ryan has 9 no hitters. The fact that it's darn near impossible to pitch a no hitter and he's done it 9 times is beyond belief! Now that Randy has two, I sure hope he can get at least one more before he retires.

Check out this list

http://baseball.about.com/library/blnohit.htm

The perfect games are in bold and very few and far between. A perfect game is quite an accomplishment that puts you in an elite club - according to the list, only 17 pitchers pitched perfect games in the last 100 years.

Congrats Randy!

27 Up.....27 Down

at the age of 40 !!! The "Big Unit" had it happening. I just
hope The Red Sox can get him (though with Arroyo back
as the "Number 5" they look awfully darn tough.
Hey...HEY !!!! .....What about Roger doin' it with "the bat"
too....shades of Babe Ruth, Don Drysdale, and Earl Wilson
or what. Roger finally got his first "no decision" but when
he left they were ahead and the inning was over.
Rocket looks like he's got another 5 years left now that
he's playing "Real Baseball". If only we had known what a great hitter he is 20 years ago...I really believe he'll hit
.300 this year with 20-25 RBI's.
I hope the Red Sox leave Pokey Reese at Short and put
Nomar at 3rd Base once he's healthy. Reese is AMAZING
at Shortstop, does things I haven't seen done since Tony Fernandes and Mark Belanger were young players.

Re: Perfect Game!

Saw the news at a bar. Dang! It was on TV and I missed it. One of these days I'm going to see a pitcher pitch a perfect game and a hitter hit for the cycle in the same game. Anyone able to calculate the expected time before that happens?

I really like the Unit. I think I liked him even more early in his career before he had control over his pitches. I think the best moment ever in a All-Star game was him against Kruck. (I'm a Phillies fan, btw.)

There is a man in Cincinnatti who wishes that were true.
