Dragonfly
Check out Dragonfly clothing. They have some of that type of thing (along with their rock star/biker/club shirts). They often show up on ebay at discount prices as well.
Later...

In my opinion Skully and Rockmount is making the best looking new ones. But H bar C is the only way to go if you like vintage clothes 8) :D
I do probably 89% of my shopping at Katy K's in Nashville. Be prepared to run up your Visa bill the first time but that second time she'll treat ya right and the longer you know her (she's a great lady and now a really good friend of ours - if you go once there's no doubt you'll be back!) the more she tries to help ya out. Great clothes, great selection, great stories (there's always fun stuff in the back - be it a few of Porter Wagoner's old suits to Bill or Webb's boots, it changes regular and it's always mucho cool). Plus you're supporting one of the coolest shops in the U. S. of A. and that's a great feeling all in it's own.

We find all of ours at Goodwill/Salvation Army. Boots too. You have to go ALL THE TIME or you will never find anything, you almost have to be standing there when they put the stuff out, but it's worth it. I generally pay $1-$3 for shirts, and $8-$10 for a decent pair of boots. I recently found a really nice pair of Justins for my wife, still had the price tags on them. $2.

Speaking of fancy-schmancy cowboy duds...
Anyone ever see this movie?
![]() The Western wear is a central theme and running gag. Highly recommended, a very, very funny sleeper. Check your video store, and it shows up on cable fairly often, too. A real hoot. (And no, I <u>didn't</u> say "root"...) ;-) CS |

Every now and then you can still find some the old H Bar C or the old California Ranch Wear in vintage stores or even on ebay. For the past few years you could even get NOS H-Bar-C stuff on ebay.
If you want new stuff Rockmount Ranch Wear is making some great vintage looking shirts from some of their old patterns and they are the longest production shirt design in America(they have been making the same shirts since WWII). Papa Jack from Rockmout was the first to use snaps on western shirts back in the forties and he is still doing it. I think he just turned 103 this past March and still shows up for work every day at the factory in Denver. I have a few old H-Bar-C shirts that are to small for me anymore if anyone wears a small let me know.

H bar C
Aaaah those were the days, when the whole band could get a matching set of shirts, in h-bar-c. Now we have to do with lesser stuff. The great thing about h-bar c was the workmanship, and the thickness and quality of the fabric. No cotton there, 100 % thick syntetic. And you could wash it in a bucket of water, shake the water off, hang it up and it would be dry in an hour or two, and look like you just ironed it. They don´t make them like that any more, or do they...? They probably would cost more than 100 bucks today. Actually we paid 120 bucks here , years ago.

i second the rockmount western wear. that's what i'm going with next. i have a cool panhandle slim (Crossroads western in NLR, AR) and a cool alamosa (on the clearance rack in Cavender's in Texarkana $20).
here's my panhandle slim (the panhandle may be slim, but i'm not). ![]() just a few days ago, i found this place called direct shop online. they have these shirts called Buffalo Country Western Wear. i haven't ordered from these people, and i haven't seen these in person. but i'm tempted to buy one just because of the price. ![]() that one is $24. here's their website. http://www.directshoponline.com/defa...85088c30b21780

thanks for all the links, guys! i'll probably go with DSO just because they're cheap. i'm going for more of a punk-rock-country-trash look than a genuine cowboy look, so it doesn't matter much if it ain't top quality. and for twenty bucks, i could buy two!

HOLY MOLY!
Johnny, thanks so much for posting that link - I've got the same royal flush shirt but it's a vintage H Bar C... and I paid somewhere around $150 for it! I love gab... but I also love being able to buy more than one shirt a year lol! That link is awesome! And you've lost so much weight since that photo was taken it isn't even funny - you look great on that video clip of you playing the Esquire, you should be proud of yourself, congrats my friend! I love that picture though - sparkle guitars and fancy western wear...doesn't get much better 8)

Trouble with new shirts
When I´d gotten used to the old H-Bar-C shirts, the were worn out...it took some yers, but then they´d start ti get gringy around the sleeves... :(
Everytime I try some of the new, thinner stuff, I´m thinkin "Pyjamas" not stage clothing At least I want the shirt to be sharp looking. The new shirts aren´t really doing much for me...But you gotta keep smilingI felt like real bad when the pic was taken, not because of the shirt, but because of the sound on the stage.

![]() I got this one from Western Warehouse...Johnny posted the "Panhandle Slim " link for them Cavenders http://www.cavenders.com/dept.asp?dept%5Fid=1003 has some nice stuff...the same shirts are carried locally by a store called Corral West. It aint H Bar C but it does the trick... There is, by the way, an outfit producing H Bar C shirts...I cant locate the link right now... These look nice too...http://www.lostworldsinc.com/VintageCowboyShirt.htm The rule is that if you wear one of these shirts you must do at least one Cosmic Cowboy tune in your set... |

Some considerations...
Some of the less expensive shirts might be polyester- they can get a little hot onstage.
I bought a Scully Gunfighter for a New Years gig. It has a ton of embroidery on the yoke. Well, after the gig the I noticed some of the embroidery had pulled loose right underneath where the guitar strap was. I was able to get it fixed, but I won't be wearing it when I play again. So if you're looking for a stage shirt you might want to find something without embroidery around the shoulders.

Just got my shirt in the mail from DSO. Looks like pretty durned good quality for $22. It says it's 100% cotton, but it sure feels synthetic.
I really wanted a black one with white panels, but I would have needed to spend a big chunk of change, or get one with really stupid embroidery, so I went with my second choice. The panels are navy blue, but they'll look black on stage :)
