I never got the whole "shorts fallin' down so you can see the underwear" thing. Several years ago driving in Nashville. A kid crossed the street in front of me sporting aforementioned style. He should've waited, but jumped out there anyway...you have never really seen how ridiculous that fashion statement is until you see someone TRY to run across the road in front of you holding their pants up with one hand

I totally agree with you! I've sported some pants that were extra-baggy in the past...but not so large that I had to hold them up by hand, or that my underwear was exposed.

Not that I didn't wear equally stupid clothing, but I'm a Tele-Guy. (Practical)

I just question the timing of this recent interest in a subject that seems to relate primarily to inner-city youth at this point. There weren't any national "Pull-em Up!" campaigns when most young "white boys" were sporting the gangsta look.

(Why am I reminded of the Tea Party phenomenon...hmmm?)

Twangpunk, I'm with you - no musicians are more practical than teleguys. No frills (except the occasional bender), just wood and metal and tone.

Sure there were! Maybe you just don't remember them. FWIW I remember back in the early 90s the principal of a school in California made quite a stir by duct-taping the sagging jeans of some kids (WHITE KIDS! ) up around their waists. The general concensus was positive. Again FWIW I travel quite a bit, and still see plenty of dumb-looking white kids, brown kids and black kids, wearing this style.

Sure you want to bring politics into the thread?

Baseball hats with flat brims and baseball hats worn sideways. Knit hats (toques) worn indoors or in the summer.
...and cowboy hats.

Kid walking down the street one day recently shading his eyes from the sun while wearing his baseball cap backwards. Real smart, but whatever floats your boat.
