New Made in China Tokais

Anybody here own one? I'm interested in their SG type. The cost is around the same price of an Epiphone. I wonder if they're made in the same factory. They are also making new Japanese made ones. Their LP shapes cost slightly less than a Gibson LP Studio.

My Tokai ES60 is Chinese, I think. It's a great guitar.

I think the Chinese Tokais will be on a par with Epiphones generally speaking. Maybe a bit better even. The stock pickups that came with my ES60 were better than the ones that came in my Epi Les Paul. (I still upgraded them, though.)

I've owned a few MIJ Tokais and loved them, the MIK's were always good, but we got a few MIC Tokais for the shop last Christmas and ended up sending them back. I didn't think much of the quality & they were just generic MIC copies with Tokai logos. Just MHO.

I was at a small indie festival this summer and I saw a guy playing this model on stage:

He wasn't using any pedals and I'm unsure what amp he had, but it had a really great sound to it, which always surprises me for any Chinese-made guitar. Looks great too, I really liked it.

Those Love Rock IIs are MIJ and are seriously good pieces of kit.
