What's a '97 "the Paul" II worth?
I came across a butterscotch Japanese Tele with Seymour Duncans, phase switch, V neck and I gotta have it!...so something's going to have to go.
The only guitar I would be willing to part with is a '97 "the Paul II), all original, some minor dings, Gibson gig bag, and a headstock repair. I got a good deal on it, wonder what would be a reasonable price to ask for it. |

You realize the headstock repair cuts the value in half, at least, right? The gig bag is also a deduction with a Gibson. That is not exactly a desirable model either, even thought there's nothing intrinsically wrong with them. Say about $300.

The closest guitar available now would be the LP Faded Vintage Mahogany.......$800. I would guess that your guitar is worth at least half of $800
$400 to $450. Gibson gig bags are common. A gig bag won't scare anyone. What is the headstock damage?

I was hoping it would be worth over $400.
The headstock was repaired before I bought it - not completely snapped off but cracked on an angle below the headstock, and up about an inch into the back of the headstock. Not visible from the front but you can see and feel the repair. 2nd Gibson I've had with a headstock repair, if done right, there's no problem, but I can understand it scaring off buyers. IIRC, it's a flat top model with a brown stain finish. Not a popular model, so it won't be a strong seller especially in today's market. $600 to $900 with a hard case in excellent condition; say $750 in good condition, less $150 for a case, and half for the headstock= $300. I've seen unbroken ones go for $400.

Im with some others here on this one. I think with the repair, and the dings you mentioned, I certainly wouldn't pay more than $300, and that would be a retail value, with me as the end user. In a trade-in situation, I wouldn't expect more than $100-$150 if it were my guitar. As that would be the most I'd pay for it if I knew I had to re-sell it.
