Woodstock the movie
OK so I seen this when it came out in the theatres back in 1970. Pretty much forgot what it was all about so decided to rent it and I guess from a musicians standpoint (mine) it was a sucky film. For the talent that was there they did in my opinion a crappy job picking what to show music wise.

I was looking to see CCR in the film as this was the directors cut and was supposed to have more footage but they never showed them. I seen this at an other forum.

oh man... this is the original right?
my buddy and I got 'a note' in high school to go see this at a revival house in Redondo Beach... cruising the beach in his AMC Hornet with a hole in the floor.... The movie is pretty sloppy and I know of late guys are trashing Woodstock etc... I loved it at the time and while the performances were raw.... I'll never play in front of that many people and I'll never get to go to a concert like that.... and while it may not have changed people's lives... it was a huge event.... If a guy hates hippies and hates that era and all that those folks hoped would happen and they want to pretend nothing happened because they didn't participate, okay, I'm cool with that... but, while I was only a little kid (10) when it happened... it was the talk of my neighborhood... and when I got the chance to see the movie... I went and enjoyed it. As for the people being ugly. Well, I think they look like people do... I'm pretty careful about calling people ugly because, well, someone might have to look at me, right? The biggest memory I have of that movie is the Richie Havens part.. I liked it... Haven't seen it in awhile.

I couldn't be paid to watch woodstack. Not to offend anyone cause it's just my opinon and it doesnt matter but I have no desire to watch a bunch of dirty hippies and draft dodgers (not all of them but a lot) go around high on drugs and listen to hippie trash music. The only music I enjoyed from the era was mike nesmiths work with and away from the monkees and clarence whites work with the byrds and the kentucky colonels and the flying burrito brothers.
I never understood thw whole craze over woodstock. To me that is part of the moral decay of this country. This country was a much better place when their were family values. Families like the cleavers and father knows best. I feel blessed to be from the south and from the country. Things have changed here too but there is still a sense of old southern ways and morality. |

Well, I'm glad someone made the flick. I went to see it several times when it first came out. Those were interesting years if you were a teenager.

Oh I thought as a teenager it was a cool flick but like every one else you learn a lot as you get older. I though the film was poorly made and they could have shown the music acts better. I was not there so I do not know what it was like in person and after seeing what it was like I am glad I was not there too darn many people for me. About the Ugly comment well there was watch the movie again and see. LOL Of course strange comes into the picture too. Hey I was 18 in 1970 when the movie came out so I know what some of the younger folks dressed like then I was that age. Still I could not help but notice in the film there were some pretty strange looking folks if Strange is a better choice then ugly. Some folks may like the film but after seeing it again I thought it could have been done much better.

One other thing I am sure with that many people there were lots of young folks there that were "Normal young people" that were there for the excitement or music or what ever. However the movie pretty much focused on the freaks and drugged and the strange ones that were there. So in away it was slanted towards that point of view. I am guessing that not all at woodstock was hippies but that is what the movie focused on.
